Sometimes a jockey just gests good mounts (horses.) butthis Calvin Borel appears to be a the type of guy who offers the horse a good rider. In the Derby, he rode the best race I had ever seen. How he manuevered through the mass of horses in the stretch was a work of art, guts and sheer fortitude. This Preakness, Borel foundhimself on top and stayed there. Each demanded a different type rider and he fit the bill. Borel is a heckuva jockey who deserves exactly what he is getting, fame and fortune. Humble, and soft-spoken, Borel is the typical jockey who will represent this profession with pride and dignity. I am very proud of him. I watched him on Jay Leno show a week or so ago, and I sat in awe of his down to earth, respectful family man prreparing to get married. What alucky woman she is, and should be very proud of her new husband. Congratulations Mr. Borel. I am proud of you.

No triple crown winner again this year.

I guess we can all go back to not giving a crap about horse racing for 11 more months.

It's sad that there are many people who feel the same. I feel the RA dram did hurting racing a little.
The Triple Crown rules should be looked at as not to allow supplementary entries. Why should someone be allowed to wait to see what they have and the strength of the competition and then decide to enter. It's a form of cheating not to run all the prep races. Nominate your foal at the proper time or you don't get in any of the 3 races.
A lot of owners and trainers feel the same. Supplementary entries should not be allowed.

Not to take anything away from Rachel Alexandra but Mind That Bird would have won if Calvin Borel had been on him again. They're both fantastic horses and the next race will have two American favorites running together for another exciting race. The winner of that race will be which horse Calvin rides.
Maybe Calvin will earn enough money this year to buy some teeth! He's a super talented rider with guts and strength and drive and a thorough knowledge of the horses and the tracks.
All he needs now is some teeth so he can do the talk show tour without reinforcing the southern poor boy stereotype.

Real Jockey's ain't got no teeth. Unless they can discard them to make weight.
Who cares if he had them in or not. I could understand his speech clearly. It was a very impressive interview.

If Jocks have false teeth's they are not allowed to ride with them in, Calvin does have teeth. also if they wear glasses they can't ware glasses in a race they were prescription goggles
