UPTOWNCHARLYBROWN ran 5th in the Grade 1 Belmont Stakes! Can you IMAGINE the outcome in the NYRA appointed valet consulted the owner, trainer and jockey prior to saddling the horse? Watching the replay, and seeing the weight pad fall; 1) UPTOWNCHARLYBROWN was lucky no injury was caused; 2)the other horses behind were lucky no injuries were sustained and 3) the jockey held on to a SLIPPING SADDLE and the horse crossed the finish line 5th! I've heard the story of trainer Alan Seewald who passed away in April, and it makes me sad that the NYRA used the UPTOWNCHARLYBROWN good-feel story to their advantage prior to the the running and no it seems the NYRA is ssssshhhhhing them in the corner because of a mistake made by an MYRA employee.

The hotter the felt makes the horse ,the more sweat, the more the rubber slips and slides away. I have seen four races this week with slipped saddles and two in the last month with lost bridles. So either these people who tack up don't know what the hell they are doing or there is a junk tack shop with slick advertising selling alot of garbage to the racing industry. Either way, I NEVER NEVER NEVER rode with out stress checking my leather and equiptment. I see people just trust the horse is tacked right and hop on up. You never know thou if some smart alek maced a pad, baked some leather, whatever. In this case maybe they need a smaller girth too and to walk the horse a little before putting the saddle on in the first place. Horse probably likes to puff up the minute he knows he is going to be rode.
Charlie got up without eight pounds and at that distance the horse he beat that got his placing worked for it. I think they should refund the entry fee but leave the purse distributed as it is.
