Listening to SIRIUS this morning, those 2 guys who think sponsors are the only thing to be considered in getting a hurt driver back in his car,,,,I cannot believe that with both tibia and fibula broken on Tony's gas leg, they were saying he might be out for as little as 2 weeks...for God's sake...Denny should Still not be in His car...Tony will need what to be able to drive with a broken leg? A robot hook up to mash the gas? And Pain Pills? Can these people Think for a single moment about the driver with broken Bones? Geesh.
Since Tony will be out of chase contention, I say Let Him Mend!

Debi can you ever tell the truth??? 1st SN is a live radio!!!! They open the lines so the fans can call in !!! And what sucks about the fans calling in they ask the same question over & over & over again.< It is really annoying.) And the announcer R polite and answer the questions over & over.As far as Smoke getting back in his race car. They R announcing he will be out of the car this weekend . Until they hear from SHR Tony MIGHT be back in the car OR May NOT GET BACK IN THE CAR.No one is saying he WILL BE BACK IN THE CAR.It will be up to Smoke what he decides to do.GEEEH

From what the sprint drivers explained this morning on SN. It was the angle the 2 cars hit. One of the regulars drivers stated he shattered his leg with the same hit. I guess it is a weak pt of this type of racer. < I am only guessing. Whats was funny ( I do not mean hahaha funny) Zippy was on SN last week discussing how they have tried to discourage Smoke from racing in these cars. Because of the chance of getting hurt. BANG a few days later Smoke breaks his leg. My MOM & Dad use to say the same thing to me and my bros.( If you keep riding your Bikes , 4 wheelers & Snow mobile's. Like you R racing in the Indianapolis 500 you kids will break your necks) same thing I believe all 4 of use ended up wit ACL tears. lol

That's funny he might as well park it rather than put Morgan in the car.

This morning's paper says he needs further surgery. Considering the location of the break and the casting that will be required to stabilize the injury, I don't see him in a car for quite a while. Smoke is tough as hell but he's not going to be allowed back in the car until he can get a release from NASCAR's medical team and his ability to get in and out of the car will be part of their decision. Wishing you the best recovery ever, Slick Johnson. Maybe you can a wheelchair circuit started.

Hammond wrote an article that said when DW broke his leg he was able to drive with hand controls. They showed a clip of DW getting help getting in the car. Maybe they can do something like that for Tony. Tony can do the clutch etc with his other leg. Good wishes and prayers for a speedy recovery for Tony! You know he will do whatever he can to get back in the car.

I have tickets for M'ville and don't really have another favorite driver. I would love to see Morgan drive the 14 car. They won't find anyone with more love for the sport than him. And with Tony's car and team, I'll bet he would finish better than DP will.

"love for the sport" doesn't always equate to results on the track. It's the results that matter, and almost anybody would do a better job than Morgan.

I never knew DW as a driver, but that would something to see! That would take some kind of coordination!

I agree, Tony won't be happy being at the track cheering on his team the way Denny did.

I just hope when he gets back behind the wheel he's a little bit more careful. The fans love seeing him take the chances he does as much as he does, and I think we all grasp the idea of dying for something you love, but it's not always worth it to take unnecessary risks.

Any cast that does not allow him to bend his leg at the knee will keep him out of the car. Depending on where the break was at in the lower leg will determine the length of the cast. I have walked with a semi-locked knee in my right leg as some of the folks on here know since the early ninties until a few months ago. I had a new type knee surgery which was very successful and as of now I have about 90% range in bending my knee. Tony is tough and he'll bounce back quick but it's still going to be tough, especially the rehab physical therapy.

This is wonderful for you having so much more mobility in your knee it must open up a whole new world for you. Also Tony is built alittle different than DW might be tougher for him to get in and out of the car.

I never saw DW race either they showed this on The Hub last night. Technology has come along way since DW drove so maybe there is something that can be done to get Tony back in the car. Have not heard what needed to be done to the leg during surgery. Do you know? I hope he is more careful to. Have fun when you go to Martinsville.
