Israel was successful in destroying much of the Hamas Missile systems that were provided by the Iranian regime and was smuggled from Egypt, including missiles from the Gaddafi regime that NASA allowed to go to Gaza. However, Hamas has more missiles in mosques and in civilian buildings and Israel needs ground forces to destroy the missiles without killing innocent Gazans. Israel is negotiating ceasefire to prevent the ground attack that would last long time and will destroy Gaza and its missiles including the tunnels that connect them with Egypt. Hamas would try to save face in a humiliating ceasefire that will leave many of Hamas missile commanders dead.

Pardon my French, but what the hell makes Egypt suitable for a mediatorial role on this matter? They have taken sides with Hamas and are either unwilling, or unable, to stop the smuggling of weapons into Gaza. Mediators? The US? Perhaps. Switzerland? Maybe. Canada? Could be. But certainly not Egypt. Let Morsi deal with his own issues of security, minority rights, poverty, infrastructure, etc. before he preaches to any other country.

Not only that Hamas is a branch of the Muslim Brotherhood which is clearly stated in the Hamas Charter.

They are the same org when it comes down to it with the same agenda world wide islamic rule.

My understanding is that a ceasefire would simply be used to Hamas' advantage and so as to enable them to come back stronger the next time. They will never stop until they are defeated. Being that they are backed by Iran who is supplying Hamas with the weaponry, it's unlikely that they will stop of their own accord. Peace is only temporary as the strategy is to call for a ceasefire and so as to allow for time to enable them to comeback stronger and more deadly.

Egypt is in a precarious position in that Morsi is newly elected and must establish his ability to be a statesman and also he understands that they have to consider that we, Israel's ally, have a good deal of money invested in Egypt. However, the longer things go on with the crisis at hand, the harder it will be for Egypt not to take sides against Israel.

Israel is about to and is fully capable of bringing the pain should some people not cease with firing rockets into Israel.

Lest we forget that Muhammad Atta who piloted one of the airliners on 9/11 was a member of the Egyptian Muslim brotherhood.

CAIR in this country still refuses to call Hamas a terrorist organization.

As well, after the incident in Benghazi, Morsi stated that they are not this country's ally but instead, we are a "friend". Funny way that they show their friendship in consideration that just prior to being attacked in Benghazi, resulting in the deaths of four Americans, our embassy in Cairo was attacked- our flag being desecrated and replaced with the black flag that Al Qaeda has been known to use. If it were up to me, I'd strip them of every cent in American aid. You don't treat friends by attacking their embassy and if they don't consider themselves to be our ally, they don't need to be looking to us to help them financially.
