Over half the workers at the prison traffick, lets get real here. They should get better security, maybe there wouldn't be this problem. But when you have people that are there to pat down, and don't do there job, you'll have things happen. Now only 500 more workers to catch!

The only way they can stop the Trafficing thats going on is STRIP search everyone! Thats too Time Consuming. So, if ur Visiting an offender u would be ok with being STRIPPED Searched? Someone touching and spreading ur areas to look. Its not easy patting people down.

There is better technology out there, they need to invest in it. If people seen it wasn't easy to do, they probably wouldnt do it! They want to set examples, they need to start from the top and work their way down.

The inmates are cons and manipulators. The weak are easily influenced and manipulated. Unless you have worked there you don't know. And as far as "newstand" comment. That's right, lets start bashing and talking about "Karma". I'm sure you have always been on the straight up, and NEVER gossiped....right?

As a staff member at WVCF, The inmates are very good Cons. They try to feed u this poor me story, and try to get to become ur best friend, then when u feel for that story, they begin to have u get them small things at first, a piece of candy, chewing gum, or even a McD's Sandwhich or a Soda Pop. Then, if ur Dumn enough for that, then they will Tell ya "you know u can get fired for doing that right? So if I told u wouldn't have a job no more." Then they would tell ya this Line" Now hum since u've already trafficed, All u gott do is bring me a cigg. and u can bring it in ur underwear or ur socks." thats how they begin to get ya hooked Line and Sinker! These guys have 24/7 to figure ways to get things brought in! Im sorry to all the Ones thats feel for there stories and Lines.

I was asked once to traffic 3 tennis rackets and a plunger to the prison in my butt. I said no however. It is my butt. My choice.

Well I believe that they should just allow them to smoke/chew. They only dine awayrrom it primarily because they were suppose to get a federal grant if they went tobacco free, but then never recieved the grant money. If they allowed tobacco, then this would get rid of that black market item, and would allow the state to make some much needed revenue off commissary sales. These offenders would easily pay twice the retail rate for tobacco, considering they are paying many, many times that for it to be trafficed in by staff. This money could also go toward some sort of victims assistance fund or something.

You have my sympathies. Your quotes are not funny. You need to move over to the Terre Haute topix where you would be welcomed. Your opinion I know,,,but as they say "everybody has one, and you're the biggest one"

"newstand" it sounds like you have probably been one that has been LAUGHED AT or the GOSSIP has been about you (thats pretty funny, if you ask me) Obviously, you have some beef with McMahan, so why hide behind the name "newstand" (that you mis-spelled any way!!!) Please do...show everyone the absolutely perfect person who hides behind a mis-spelled screen name...

i just read today that indiana wants to limit the visitors for inmates due to the fear of trafficing, when they need to look at some of the staff. Not all the prisoners are asking people to smuggle things in for them, there are some prisoners that just want to do their time without any trouble and come home!

Everyone in town knows that was where you would get the "low down" on everything and everyone in town. Good try though.

More workers smuggle things than visitors. They need to look at their workers.

Every single day a CO, or contracted worker there brings in something.

I worked there over a year and seen so much BS...co's watching each others back while they bring in chew for themselves, or keep post while another goes into a bathroom to smoke, and trade offs made..All while sargeants tell you that you never tattle on fellow workers, pick and choose your battles...I got out of there!! you get real, maybe not over half, but a hell of a lot of people there bring things in, they want to place blame on visitors, when in reality its the workers. And lots of 'em. The people make mistakes, it doesn't make 'em bad people, again i will say if they made it harder for people to do things, they wouldnt be done.

i agree with Darla, I visit there quite often and would never think of bring in something... nor would my husband want me to bring in anything, he wants to come, I want him home. for the most part the workers that I have met there are very nice but it only takes a few bad ones... it's sad because people make mistakes now the worker becomes the prisoner, and they'll be wishing they could take back their mistake and go home too..

That place is not a job for everyone. You have good hearted people that end up feeling sorry for a prisoner or feeling like a friend to them, and then do as they ask..afterall they are human beings like the rest of us on this earth. Then you have some that are threatened to bring things in. It's a catch22 Not all workers are bad, not all prisoners are bad. It's just how a person handles daily situations in that place, it's definetely not for everyone, and it wasn't for me. Brad is a nice fella, or atleast i've always known him to be, and no one should really cast judgment until both sides of the story are known...but that just wouldnt make this site what it is if we did that lol

I was employed by DOC and quit voluntarily. It is a hateful, wicked place to work. You have to not only watch out for the offenders, but also the staff. Lots of prison workers are low life trash on the street and put a prison uniform on and become Johnny Law. Not all, but a good majortiy of them. It is the only time in their pathetic lives they will ever be in authority. Brad McMahan had NO business working in that environment. He is too nice. There were other circumstances and threats against Brad's family that forced him to do what he did. It is not everyday a decent, hardworking guy like Brad has a notorius organized gang in Sullivan looking for him. Very scary stuff. Desperate times called for desperate measures. To protect my family I can't say I wouldn't have done the same thing. And if any of you say you wouldn't have done what Brad did, you are either lying or really don't care about your loved ones. Brad did what he did out of desperation and fear. He DID NOT take any sort of payoff from these thugs. Just was trying to get them to not harm his family. Also, I understand trafficking is trafficking. But, he did not take in anything illegal. It is unfortunate but good people can get cornered and caught up in something down there before they know it. I don't think Brad waited over 45 years to suddenly become a "bad guy". I know this all makes for a good story in Sullivan where all a lot of you want to do is point out the bad in people.
