my boyfriend is currently serving time at pendleton and about a month ago they were put on lockdown. nobody is saying why or how long it will last. i got a letter from him today saying that they had taken their food from them and they had no heat! maybe it's just me but i feel like the guys in there are not being treated fairly, yea i know they are in there for a reason but at the same time they shouldnt be treated like animals. i just wanted to let people know whats going on at pendleton in case you have a friend or loved one there.

The whole facility is being investigated. Lockdown may last until Thanksgiving. They have taken their commisary. My husband has lost 10lbs since the lockdown began which is alot for a 6ft1 man who started out at 150lbs and now is 140. Me and my children cant visit or hear his voice. This is crazy. These men are not all bad people and the fact remains that they are all still PEOPLE!! I swear to God if my man loses any more weight or ends up sick Im going to go crazy on some people. That man is my life and I will not put up with ANYONE thinking they can mistreat him.

They still get fed three meals a day. Granted it isn't the tastiest of food but it is enough to sustain them. We would still be on lockdown if they lifted it today. We have lost a lot of staff and it doesn't look like they are trying to replace anyone yet.

They are talking like the lockdown could last until May. The commissioner already had the ok for 90 days. They are locked in an 8x12 cell for 22 1/2 a day. They can only order hygeine products from commisary. They have heat. But most inmate's like the fresh air. I'm sure it feels colder than it actually is to some of them. Granted, they are in there for a reason, but they are afforded, under the constitution freedom from cruel and unusual punishment. I agree that it is time to let these men out of their cells. The ones in school, are doing their classes through the mail. It's bad enough that they are incarcerated, let alone having been locked in a room with the same person, day in and day out, for the last 45 days.

Just wondering about the nutritional value of bolonga sandwiches and 4 small dry cookies 3 times a day and a 15 lb weight loss in less than 6wks.

I agree with those of you who are victims of violent crimes and loss of loved ones.
However each inmate is an individual. My friend is in the outside of walls level one facility. His crime was becoming an addict. He has been there 6 weeks and has lost 15 lbs. The hope of justice system rehabilitition working isn't even feasible at this point. No classes available that the judge said he was to take. I know its prison and for a reason but also for rehabilitation. I had hope that would be the outcome for my friend not coming out worse than when he went in. I am mad as .. at him for using and getting into trouble, but neither of us are scumbags.

The conditions will soon bring everyone to a breaking point and will only get worse for all including personnel. The situation needs to be addressed immediately by state authorities. Some are there for violent crimes, surely this can make them even more violent creating a bigger threat to staff and nonviolent inmates.

For breakfast they get a boiled egg, cereal, 3 peices of bread, a orange, butter, and milk.

For lunch and dinner they get Bologna, 3-5 peices of bread, carrots, 3-4 cookies, juice packet.

maybe, maybe not, maybe some, maybe supposed to maybe don't.
I have been lied to and harrassed so many times by "law enforcement officials" as has my teenage honor roll christian student child who was also lied to interrogated and harassed and accused in her home.. Alone! Even my dog was abused minding his own business in his garage again no one home! So.....I wonder about alot. At least an egg and orange is better, hope its true every day. Wonder what the terroists prisoners will have to eat when the are brought here? Just wondering.....

You seem to be a real idiot. Would you have the same opinion if you were talking about someone in your family or someone you love? People are not and never will be perfect--mistakes are made, terrible ones sometimes. But not everyone in that situation is as you describe. I pray that you are not judged by the same standards you judge others, which by the way, the Bible tells you not to do. But I can tell by your attitude that you probably never read or even heard of the Bible.

Prison is horrible and understandably so. Life is not fair. I feel for the inmates suffering needlessly, and I feel for the people who have been unfairly affected by their actions. But it all boils down to one question. Who do you want when they leave prison (90%+ will be released), the same ignorant and angry guy that went in, or a mature and responsible person that values society? Now decide how you want to treat them. AND, if you don't care then you just as ignorant and irresponsible as the people were when they committed the crimes.

Yes, and 2 meals consist on bologne sandwich and maybe some veddie sticks, and then a carton on milk like u grank in elem. school. Hell, my son who is 12 can eat more than that at one setting. Do you really think a man who is 205 lbs can be sustained on that? Mine was 285 and lost 80lbs while on lockdown. Oh and it lasted a lot longer than Thanksgiving. Try up till march of 2011.
