I think that they should have cell phones. That way they can buy their own phones and pay for their own minutes. Many times it is the guards that bring in the phones and sell them to the inmates for preposterous prices! And I do believe that the inmates need to stay in touch with their children, grandchildren, parents and spouses. It will help keep the moral up in prison. We are all God's children and, if you think about it, but for the grace of God, there go I.

I need to stay in contact with my son too. Oh wait a minute...he is dead murdered by one of the people you think should be allowed to keep in contact with his family. I don't give a flying crap what their moral is HELLO...they are in prison not a hotel.

my boyfriend is in there, & it helps waste their time and some people don't have collect calls on their home phones or cell phones. YES it was their fault by doing what they did to get in their but you shouldn't treat them like dogs. & i very highly AGREE that they do get beat, i know police && correctional officers. but everybody also needs to understand that some of them WANT TO CHANGE && the officers & judges don't want to give them the fucking chance! point i think they should be able to have cell phones just monitor their calls n don't let them have text messaging available so that your worry of a riot or breaking out wont happen. damn
I so agree with You My Fiancee is in there yes he admits to his crime and for what he done but I also believe he deserves a second chance he missed one phone call with his parole officer because he was in the hospital and not he has 6 years in prison for it and the times I do want to see him the whole damn prison is on locked down wtf is that not everyone committed the same crime I wander if they push buttons and let shit slide for the Co's and crooked cops yes I know they do

When you have loved ones locked up you want to know they're okay. People don't always plan drama. Some just like contact with family have children & wives. everyone deserves the benefit of the doubt. They are not perfect but neither are we

Not everyone is a violent offender & some murderers kill because they snap when the law fails to do their jobs so don't label everyone else. I'm sorry for your loss but my boyfriend admitted to his crime even says he deserves to be there. But he's got a daughter & he should have contact w/ her. Yes he took a life but it was because the law did nothing. That loser would've gone off & raped another woman. Do you know how that feels? Sex offenders are repeat offenders too. You can not rehabilitate them

Bottom line murder is murder and they should not have cell phones. No I don't know what rape feels like but I do know how it feels to have your kids brains blown out over a few bucks by a career criminal.

Once again I'm sorry for your loss. Every individual is in for different reasons. Some are in on trafficking drugs because of the unemployment rate. Some for defending loved ones. Some for killing and raping innocent people. I don't judge because I don't know everyone story.

yes we just cant beat up inmates because they have a phone...if they refuse to be placed in restraints so we can search their cell then we have to cell extract them and others might be out of their cell and fight us instead of letting us search them
there other ways for being Abel to ask for a cell phone from a inmate I know that the co officer are dickes to inmates and think they can do what that won't and talk to them like there nothing remember the saying treat and respecet other the way you would like to be treated To the CO just try it give respect and see what differnet it makes

Well, sure if I was a dumbass in prison, yes, I'd want one. I'd also want 800 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets and a mint on my pillow and filet mignon every night for dinner and a big screen TV, but it's unlikely I would get any of those things, just because I wanted them. But here's the thing. These folks we're talking about...? They're in - ready for this?- PRISON! They don't need nor deserve cell phones.
you obviously either dont have a loved one away from you or you just dont or wouldnt care if they were away from you! grow up inmates are humans too do i think they sould have everything they want no. but i do think cell phones should be allowed to save money and to keep in contact more offten with families. the prison system says they are all about getting those guys out of there and keeping them out and keeping families together yet it seems like they are doing everything to keep them apart.

Just because someoneis in prison does not mean they are a threat to everyone. Some people go in defending their families because the laws not dependable and some go in because they have to support families because this so called economy sucks

I agree 100%....everyone has different circumstances & I swear some people only get on here to judge based on the fact that they are in prison. Although we are talking about humans with families, wives, children....

Then that person should be punished severely. Do you know about kaelie's law? Its been passed that you can request the cell to be wallpapered in photos of your son to make him think of what he
done. I agree that killing a swx offender is justifiable and not all situations are the same. Im sorry about your loss but not everyone in their is a cold hearted murderer.

I think they should be allowed to have cell phones . Sometimes writing letters isn't enough and those short visits aren't satisfying maybe they could regulate the use or #s but they should still be allowed . My boyfriend is in pendleton & he had snuck a cell phone & had it for a very long time & just got caught w it recently . He never made any type of diobolgical plan just to talk to his family sheesh . Give people a break sometimes their still human .

My boyfriend was caught with one as well & got 6 mos lockdown & lost visitation for a year. That's way harsh. All he did was contact family!

Even if they can't have cell phones make it affordable for them to call us. Who can afford 8.00 per call. I can get a call from a friend in a federal prison and its only like .83/15min why is state so much higher

Give a con a phone that is not monitored will only lead to more crime. It will be used for the continuation of their criminal pursuits and the occasional call home to have more pkgs. sent to them.

What's with all this "they are still human " bull@#&t ! They have proven themselves to be very inhuman. Your little Johnny who got sent up the river for his umpteenth breaking and entering is the first one who's running to the nearest CO to save his butt because some sex deviant wants in it.
