allowing offenders to have cell phones is like trafficing, because they ALWAYS have plans, just remember that!

I dont see the problem with the prisoners having an cell phone, some people dont have collect calls on there home phone an if the inmate has an cell phone the can keep in touch with there family and friends.STOP TREATING THEM LIKE DOGGS THEYRE STILL HUMAN BEINGS! LET THEM HAVE AN CELL PHONE.

I know of noone "beat" for having a cellphone. There are those inmates that will fight rather than give them up, but noone is beaten.

Sure, right up until they use them to plan a riot or escape and come over to ur house and hurt your loved ones.

yes we just cant beat up inmates because they have a phone...if they refuse to be placed in restraints so we can search their cell then we have to cell extract them and others might be out of their cell and fight us instead of letting us search them

Cell phones may be beneficial if proper protocol could be established and followed. Inmates are NOT always planning something so quit supporting that vicious stereotype. The stigma inmtes have is hard enough in society so why make it harder by making comments like that. Not every person is violent and there are alot of people living in the community who are more violent than the ones in prison so dont judge a book by its cover and give every one a second chance in life. You would want one too...and do your job CO's...protect the hardworking, rehabilitating offenders from the ones who have nothing to lose. You paid to be there to secure the prison...so secure the inmates who threaten the security of all involved...even other inmates. they deserve protection too!!!

I understand inmates wanting to call home and I would too but often times they use them for heavy drug trafficking. And it's not stereotypical to say that, it's just simply the truth.

Our prison gets calls from the victims of these inmates complaining of getting harassing phone calls from these guys. This can't happen with the phone system that is already in place. If you don't like it get out and don't come back. The people I feel sorry for are the military overseas that have limited resources to contact family.

I think inmates should have phones because the prisons are sucking the families dry. There sre children that need to talk to their parents and waiting for them to get money to call that child could be deperate and the only person they could talk to is that love one.
And parents can still help raise their kids from a cell phone they might not be there physically but communication is wide open. THINK ABOUT THAT LOVE ONE OUT HERE WHO CANT HANDLE IT !!!!!!!!!!

I understand that some prisoners will abuse the use of a phone and it is very unfortunate, but I still vote for them to be allowed to use them. My husband is locked up and our kids hurt for him everyday. Sure he screwed up, he screwed up one time and all of us are suffering for it. We would all benefit to hear from him. I am with all of those other people who are sick of being treated badly by the system and sick of all these people judging everyone.

I that the inmates should be allowed, To have phones because a lot of times it makes the time that they are serving go by faster. And keeps them in the loop. Of whats going on out here as well.Because some people when they return home are just so out of the loop. Of whats going on out here today. And often find themselves, Right back in there for being so far behind. I wish they would let them have another form of communication.

my boyfriend is in there, & it helps waste their time and some people dont have collect calls on their home phones or cell phones. YES it was their fault by doing what they did to get in their but you shouldn't treat them likee dogs. & i very highly AGREE that they do get beat, i i kno police && corectional officers. but everybody also needs to understand that some of them WANT TO CHANGE && the officers & judges dont want to give them the fucking chance! point i think they should be able to have cell phones just monitor their calls n dont let them have text messaging avaliable so that your worry of a riot or breakibng out wont happen. damn

I DO AGREE...I DON'T THINK IT'S A BIG PROBLEM FOR INMATES TO HAVE CELL PHONES. HELL YOU CAN PLAN SOMETHING WITH OR WITHOUT A CELL PHONE SO IT REALLY DON'T MATTER. A CELL PHONE WON'T HURT ANYONE BUT A WEAPON/SHANK WILL!!! SO CELL PHONES SHOULDN'T BE MADE THAT BIG OF A DEAL. I THINK IT WOULD BE LESS VIOLENCE IF INMATES WERE ALLOWED TO HAVE A CELL PHONE BECAUSE THEY WOULD RATHER TALK TO THEIR FAMILIES MORE THAN ANYTHING. IT WAS A COMMENT ABOUT INMATES CAN PLAN ESCAPES OR TRAFFICKING...LOL...THAT'S CRAZY BECAUSE THAT'S WERE SECURITY SHOULD COME IN AT AND MAKE SURE THEIR JOB IS BEING DONE!!! IF THEY WERE CHECKING CORRECTLY AND DOING WHAT THEY ARE SUPPOSE TO BE DOING THEN IT SHOULDN'T BE A PROBLEM.

I think that they should have cell phones because the billing company that the prison uses to have the inmates call us collect from cost me $13.12 per call. I cannot afford that and so the kids don't get to talk to their dad. The kids are the ones hurting here. They haven't done anything but they still need a relationship with their Father. So we have a limit. Not every man in that prison is bad and going to misuse the phone.

Inmates were escaping long before cell phones even existed. Not everyone has that mentality. Why escape in get in more trouble and be taken from your family even longer than before. I think inmates should be allowed cell phones. Monitor who they call, you all monitor everything else. Relatives should be able to talk to their family member everyday to keep their spirits up. It would limit the violence going on behind those bars. It would give the inmate something to look forward to everyday. Family is very important and so is communication. Let the inmates be allowed to have cell phones. Times are hard, and not everyone can afford to accept collect calls.

I feel that cell phones should be allowed! TNetix is too expensive, and most of the time, they cheat you out of your calls and money. The people in prison are human and should be treated as such! Not everyone in prison is a bad person. Some of them are there due to false allocations! They are stripped of every right and dignity possible. They should have something!

Well, sure if I was a dumbass in prison, yes, I'd want one. I'd also want 800 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets and a mint on my pillow and filet mignon every night for dinner and a big screen TV, but it's unlikely I would get any of those things, just because I wanted them. But here's the thing. These folks we're talking about...? They're in - ready for this?- PRISON! They don't need nor deserve cell phones.
