My son recently was convicted if a crime he DID NOT COMMITT. He has been sentenced to 45 years, in Menard, for a murder commited by someonelse just because I could not afford a real attorney and the guilty kids parents could and did. The guilty one walks the streets on probation, my son, victom of circumstance, now starting a 45 year sentence. I need help. I feel helpless. His, Bloomington Illinois Public Defenders did NOTHING to help him. Where do I turn? Where do I start? There is plenty of evidence to support his innocents but no legal council. An appeal can easily be won. Please help.

My fiancÚ, who's housed in Six West at Menard, was able to ring me from the tier late in the evening on the 27th. He told me that two inmates (names, numbers, locations unknown) were targeted and attacked in seperate incidents: One of them, he says, reportedly was stabbed in the head at least 8 times (it's unknown if he lived or died); he didn't know anything about the other inmate.

While we were talking, a fight broke out on his tier and we had to end our call abruptly... I haven't heard from him since. I was scared for him then, and I'm scared for him now. I hope and pray that he didn't get involved and that he's safe. He's a low-risk inmate, serving less than 6 years for robbery & burglary --- why he's still in a maximum security prison with lifers is a mystery to him, me, his family... We hope his transfer will come through soon!!

MOTHER OF INNOCENT ONE: Check out the local (or state) chapter of The Innocence Project. These licensed lawyers, former judges, and law students (along with other misc. volunteers) take on cases like that of your son. I hope this info helps... Good luck, and God bless!!
