What the blazes is going on here? Are the regional Pacific island states to become a targeted dumping ground for unwanted muslim detainees??? Is this the grand solution that the present administration, the State and Justice Department have been able to come up with so far??

This is what happens when you have nothing to offer yet you need something, so you will do almost anything to get it.

There seems to be some confusion here. These Uighurs are not monsters; they are not terrorists; they are not bad people. Before judging them, and judging Palau for taking them, please be aware of their situation. These Uighurs were political refugees from China. Yes, they are Muslim, but they are not radical terrorists; they are peaceful, law-abiding, god-loving Muslims. They fled China because the Chinese government is intolerant of religious differences and a little crazy. They fled to Afghanistan. That was unlucky. The US military came to Afghanistan and offered a ten thousand dollar reward for people to identify terrorists. Local Afghanis who felt no allegiance to the Uighers and who wanted ten thousand dollars, falsely identified the Uighers as terrorists. The US military took them to Gitmo, quickly discovered they were not terrorists, and released them. The American people have a hard time understanding that the American military can make a mistake and falsely believe that everyone in Gitmo is a terrorist. Hopefully, the Palaun people will demonstrate a better ability to think for themselves and not form unfair prejudices. The Uighers are really meral chebuul e kired el mo chbubur er tir. A Belau a kilengei el melai er tirkal chad meng kired el mo ungil er tir.

It's quite simple, nobody wants them, mighty Australia to Germany, all Uighur communities cannot have them for now because of pressure from China. Since Palau has no real ties with China, it is there that the detainees have been sent to. The U.S is backing off pressure from itself with China (even though this displeases them). This is a decent and smart thing to do considering how China has its knife eyes towards these Uighurs.

Palau gets benefits such as media exposure, and possibly a big thank you from the U.S in some form.

By the way, for those who don't know about the Uighurs in Palau, they are doing fine in their shared apartment, they are not prisoners or criminals.

Just a quick question if anyone could enlighten me a bit for I may have jumped to ridiculous conclusions earlier... How do these uighurs support themselves while they are in our Island? Are they working? Someone mentioned them living in an apartment.

They get $300 and some change from the us gov. every month each person for their rents and everything. I m not sure if that covers their security guard. They got 24 hr security guard in the paradise. aint that nice haaa........

Thank's for the info., Delulchum,.. Guess it ain't too bad as long as it's not our own gov't that is supporting them... Over here,(USA), we see ruskies and wetbacks driving Lexus', Mercedez and BMW's and still getting financial assistance from the gov't., while there are a number of Veterans standing on the side of the roads begging for food, money or even a chance for work. The very same warriors who, at certain times in their lives in the past, put themselves on the line to protect and defend this country... Don't want to see the same kind of politics happening in our beloved Palau...

Does anyone else know where is the Uighurs's apartment? I want to know the detailed info, cuz I get the chance to go to Palau to visit them. I might need to interview them. Is there any access to contact them? Would this interview be prohibited or what organization do I need to give the supply?
