I think you are being rather generous, I would have said "was" the moment the British left and gave the keys of government to Dudley Senanayake.

But the fact that Tamil Tigers come to the forum from other countries makes us happy because they have been expelled and we experience peace

You are a good little programmed clone of the government. There are thousands of Tamils overseas who migrated years ago. My grandparents migrated to Malysia at a time when many Jaffna people made a name for themselves in Malaya and Singapore in government, military, media, commerce, trade, education, medicine, law and engineering. You wouldn't know hiding in your bungalow listening to rain on your takaran roof that much of the investment in Sri Lanka over the years has been from expatriate jaffna people and Chetty business people from Tamil nadu. They help keep your sandbar afloat, otherwise you'd be making coconut dolls and dancing in grass skirts for tourists.

You missed my point little man. Despite leaving many Tamils including this one

invest heavily in real estate and small scale manufacturing in Colombo and other important urban development areas.

Tamil Tigers loved peace
They were peacefully engaged in suicide bombing and feeding cyanide to children
They peacefully massacred innocent villagers and committed other heinous crimes

Many years ago I thought the Vaddukodai principles established in 1976 for a federated state would work. But Sri Lanka is really too small a place to create seperate nations. No I accept Tamils in SriLanka need to work with the state just as they cooperate with the Chinese in Singapore and Malays in Malaysia.

My grandfather had nostalgia for the British era when the Jaffna man could own a land and a bungalow in the north and have a mansion on Colombo 7 and Havelock road. I think for many olden days Jaffna people they can't reconcile what happened to the English speaking educated cultured folk who strolled down the clean boulevards of Colombo to be replaced by a totalitarian state that feeds of the pro-Sinhala nationalist sentiment from the rural poor to keep themselves in power.

They (Tamil) still do own land and bungalows in Co 7 Elias, Gregeries Road etc. Just look at Wellawatha. If you ever been to Maradana, Panchikawatha (spare parts dealers), all are tamil shops. Wealthy business men. Where do you think they live, in Maligawatha or dematagoda?

Atleast in Colombo Tamils are going about there business like any other. MAS CEO is a Tamil gent. its the uneducated and poor tamils in VVT shouting from the roof tops. Poverty is not limited to Jaffna, its is everywhere in Lanka. That is absolutly no reason to demand a homeland.

LOL Elias, come to think of it, you were pro Eelam (separation) about 4 years ago (may be not pro LTTE), at least you now have smartened up to see the light, and see that, it will never happen. So now you have downgraded your demand. good for you, good start!!
