Which prison units should Texas close? Private contracts, security concerns may factor in

After Nicole at Texas Prison Bidness suggested private prison contracts might end up on the chopping block in light of Texas' massive budget shortfall predicted by the next legislative session, I asked the Department of Criminal Justice which private prison contracts will be up in the coming year.

I was a inmate at Dawson State Jail where you never are allowed outside nor do you receive any fresh air. It is the most barbaric facility in the State of Texas. Even a dog gets fresh air.
I am going to work and fight until the doors of Dawson State Jail is closed.

The Cost of the Unjust Justice!
Someone should realisticly research why investors are investing and building jails?? How do you think they are making such profits? Do you know what arrangements they are making with Judges to keep the jails full? Then, when the funds run out for the one convicted, they are transferred to maximum sentanceing to the state's expense? Do you think MADD has gone a little overboard for profit or good? Parker County Judges are the worst - they revel in maximum punishment not correction. Parker County has the largest dockit in Texas. One Judge sentances everyone to holiday jail time - the mtr's from all over the US is costing the county thousands. I have witnessed many people beg for other punishment to keep their hard to get jobs. The economy is bad and the families suffer. Why are they giving maximum sentancing on misdameanors?
The harshness of judgement on God's children will be redeamed in the end, they will be judged in return!

my fathers in jesse dawson right now i went to visit him a few weeks ago hes holding up but says the living conditions are BAD the guards dont look professional they nlook like inmates them selves dirty uniforms hair all over their heads on my visit there there was only 1 lady officer who looked like she should be working and she was pregnant but she was pleasant clean and her hair was nicely done now the ones who werent pregnant were a hot mess they need more training on their people skills.Dawson needs to be torn down cause people do need fresh air which is not allowed at dawson cause you dont go outside at all/

Dawson is a nasty jail and its employees talk to visitors like shit their very hotheaded and their uniforms r dirty and need pressing any other prison ive been to the guards are clean and uniforms pressed this whole prison was very DIRTY how did Dawson pass inspection? The walls r so dirty u can see dirt with the naked eye the warden she seemed to be a nice lady with a troubled facility Ive alwasys wondered y a jail was built with no way to access the inmates with fresh air even Lew Sterret has and outside space for inmates do u no u can stay at dawson for 2-4 yrs and never get any fresh air this causes hostility and mant issues

My daughter died a horrible death in Dawson ..Treated horrible drug into a hospital with legs chains and hand cuffs and put on life support within 30 mins. It took throwing up blood in front of a sergant which made her get down on the floor and clean it up. She had work duty that day and by 7:00 that night was on life support in a coma! When I got to the hospital I just could'nt believe it...what they had done to her!She died 20 min after I got there.
