Over half the workers at the prison traffick, lets get real here. They should get better security, maybe there wouldn't be this problem. But when you have people that are there to pat down, and don't do there job, you'll have things happen. Now only 500 more workers to catch!

i visit the wabash facility. and i feel that it is not so much the visitor bringing in the cell phones and drugs it the gaurds. some are kind and some are complete ass-holes to you and the inmates. some gaurds become action heros when they put their uniforms on. if you met up with the punks on the streets you couldnt pay them enough money in the world to say something to you. they serch the visitors real heavy but not the gaurds coming in. i feel make it hard dor a person guard or visitor if they get caught bringing anything in.
the money makes the gaurds do what they do money. they may get paid 50.00 to bring in a pack os smokes. make it harder for the ones who get caught maybe they will stop. i know i would never try and take nothing in there at no time or for no price. i love my freedom. bottom line make the punishment harder if you get caught.

Thanks for all of the comments on this page. When WVCI was opened the quality of employees was at the top. Not to say that the employees are less qualified now but some of the new hires are much different than back then.I was number 12 hired in at WVCI and the quality of staff and training was top notch. As the time went on Craig Hanks left and the facility went down hill quick. The next superintendent was a so called Chaplain from the system who formed a good old boys club to destroy the officers who were doing the job and promote the good old boys to the top. This is when the trafficking problem went wild, not that some had not happened before but the system started to fall apart fast. The next Superintendent was from the good old boys promotion list. He was promoted without qualifications to run the facility but none the less he was given charge. The moral suffered terribly and the good officers and staff that were left are now forced to watch their back from attack by staff along with Offender attacks. Staff were setting good officers up for failure. The Good old boys would bring in smokes and chew in plain view of the V.P. officers. Some, not all were also smokers and chewers so the lunch boxes and stuff in the underwear was just passed through. This put the honest officers in a bad position, now they could not report the smoking by officers due to the fact that you would be black balled by the inmates along with staff for being a snitch. Many of the officers that used tobacco would give the offenders a little just to watch for them and, for better words, protection. This put the honest officers in a no- win situation. Now they know the inmates are smoking and the good old boys are smoking, no way out of this one now.The inmate sees that the officers are split and have chosen sides. This is now used as power to manipulate the officers against each other. The pattern is set, the top of the ladder is supportive of the good old boys all the way to the bottom. If you want your job, you will shut up and look the other way. The inmates have you in their hands, in comes the cell phones, food, drugs, and on and on. The new Superintendent was at one time a good man and could have ran a tight ship. Time will tell if he has become a figure head politician like the last two who have held the position or if he will indeed thin out the good old boys and get the facility back on line.

For additional information, There are still many fine employees at WVCI / WVCF who take the job seriously. We need to thank them for what they are doing, They are fighting two fronts every day they are on post. One created buy non law abiding people who have made a decision to break the law, the other by offenders who are placed in the custody of the state of Indiana by the courts. The situation for them is not if they will be facing a decision to report a violation that will affect their job but when the situation will arise.

wow I thought this website was about families talking about inmates at Wabash. Funny to find out its past or former employees acting like morons. My opinon about this guy called brad bringing in cell phones fuck it he is the con. Inmates pay 400 dollars for a cell phone. Hes
making money off them. This isnt just happening at Wabash it also happens at Indiana state and many other jails. I have heard workers talking with inmates like friends while on the phone with an inmate from Wabash. Women in the background joking with inmates and talking shit with them. Im sure they do more than that since the women there look like humpback mammals. They need to do there damn jobs and keep it professional that goes for the women and men who work there. It makes me sick the way the staff treat the inmates for serveral reasons!!!!!! I mean come on people the familes of most inmates would never risk seeing there loved ones due to sneaking items in. check the employees, most emoloyees are just as dirty as the inmates!
