Protesters in Florida don orange jumpsuits, demand closure of Guantanamo
About 20 people marked 11 years since establishment of the prison camps at Guantanamo with a protest outside the U.S. Southern Command in Doral, Fla., on Friday, some donning symbolic orange jumpsuits and hoods in what has become an annual rite demanding closure of the detention center.

Don't believe the Church and state and everything they tell you, is something these easily scared into constant wars and manipulated paranoid Americans have no concept of.
In my exerience the southern "Christian" conservatives are beyond help.
In USA supporting any war and perpetual wars is called being a "Patriot" ,look the other way as countless children, pregnant women and elderly are killed and you are a Patriot.
The USA media which has given Obama a FREE PASS is an enabler and as guilty.

Gitmo and 'the war on terror' has been perpetuated by a constant state of war or contrived sense of urgency. Even in the business world if your company is run with "crisis management" on a daily basis they wind up losing.
Too many simply 'agree' with or follow the government blindy. People who disagree are indeed considered unpatriotic simply for a different opinion. All this comes back to "the Patriot Act" which was called "the Patriot Act" to intimidate those who were against it or opposed the government's actions by making them SEEEEEM unpatriotic for simply opposing it. The government simply had to impose the "Patriot" Act to stifle opposition.
Just a curiosity question. How come you can see more pictures on foreign news sources of Gitmo than the US mainstream media? Is it because many other countries/reporters have unbridled access in Cuba to film outside or the US mainstream media has been bought and paid for?
If the US doesn't shut down Gitmo soon Gitmo will go right up there with alledged Soviet Union use of Siberia and Gulags during the cold war. It may already be to late to get rid of the consequences and stigma but at least the detainees can get better treatment and the US a better international image.

One reason the camp won't be closed is the US doesn't want to admit that it has no real end game for the 'war' on terror. Terror or opposing views and policy will always exist. The problem is that many in the US government ASSume their policies will always win out which is not true.
Also if they US admits the "war" on terror is over and closes Gitmo it would be an admission that use of Gitmo and tactic are things only done in war. But we really were not at war with many of the detainees. Gitmo closes it will become a chapter in history for all to read which the government types do not want to happen.
