Disturbing and tragic events in the United States during the past two years have more sharply defined the benefit in law enforcement officials wearing body cameras recording their enforcement actions and the interaction with alleged criminals and detainees. The real-time record has become a valuable asset in numerous police departments, and the technology is about to become standard issue for most of Tupelo's police officers.

9 mm too small

Cameras are the new weapons of choice in Tupelo. The public will never be privy on any of the video since its is a private matter. Never call the police department wondering why all the squad cars and patrolmen were in your yard shining flashlights into your house and the house next door in the middle of the night. The police department will inform you that information is none of your business. What happened to common sense in the Tupelo government and law enforcement. The police department is very limited to say the least. Keep your guns loaded and reachable at night in Tupelo and have a loaded gun in every car and when shopping. The citizens have no idea about the problems in Tupelo with stealing and burglary throughout the neighborhoods every day and night. Do you think the body cameras will help protect the general public or are the cameras a compete waste of funds? Tony bought all 9mm's and now the new chiefs issue body cameras to reduce the growing crime rate in Tupelo.

Who the hell is OUR OPINION at the daily urinal. Typical BS coming out of the McLean foundation that is so off base that no one is willing to out their name on the article. The Tupelo police department is light years away from a professional run law enforcement group. The department is nothing but a political football with each mayor selecting his buddy or family friend all for the wrong reasons. Increasing retirement benefits is the leading edge of the police department in Tupelo. Just do enough to not rock the boat and allow the daily to make crime and crime reports a joke. The joke is OUR OPINION without a name. The paper is managed by Create and Create has no opinion.

Tupelo is way behind, some departments already have gun cameras, yes cameras fitted to the pistol.
Guess Tupelo doesn’t want to have their officers crimes exposed.
Criminals Know Tupelo

Tupelo is a small town with a few drug pushers selling to thousands of thugs that refuse to work and who sleep with someone different every month until the entitlements are exhausted. There is no city jail and the criminals are released from the county jail by the judge and jury mayor or sheriff. There is no law enforcement in Tupelo and the thugs know Tupelo will not keep them off the streets. The mayor says it is too expensive to keep the murderers and burglars and drug pushers in the county jail. The mayor and council spends all the taxes on vacations for the All American city cheerleaders and luxury offices and free beer for all the VIP’s down on main but refuses to build a jail for all the crooks blighting the neighborhoods. Is there a council person that has contributed to the blight during the past 12 years. Who feeds your unwanted children.

Everyone has an opinion and another hole. The paper has more than their share of both. Who cares what a paperboy thinks? Biased agenda opinions have no value to anyone. Why all the BS? The paperboys need an owner.

The rank and file TPD officer are less aggressive these days knowing their body cams are for all practical purposes rolling during their entire 12 hour shift. Ole Timmy Boy basically runs the Patrol Div. and the name of the game is roadblocks roadblocks roadblocks tickets tickets tickets. Allen Gilbert is about to retire and move on and it's who can kiss the most ass as to who will be the next deputy chief at the high and mighty TPD.

Less aggressive, well maybe slightly. An officer told me there’s no way video would be released even by subpoena, and video can be altered. Bring that up at the next town meeting, lol. As far as next Chief, I wouldn’t much more than another promoted within, trying to get hit the pension ceiling.

The mayor and council will approve new cameras for the water treatment plant and all water tanks in the city of Tupelo. The water will have e. coli floating and the cameras will be trans imitating photos but the water will need to be boiled for years. How much chlorine does it take to kill dog poop in water?
