Having been in inmate for over a year having listened to the offenders that have been there since it opened in 95 and th C/Os Belmont has the LEAST amount of hacks and THE LEAST amount of camera surv. in any of the 32 male prisons in the state of ohio!! SO, while all you ignorant, housewives sit around your computers sipping coffee and watching opera,, I hope that no one you know or love has to sit in Lorain intake and wait to be classified. BECAUSE when the majority of the level 1's and 2's hear those words "your riding to Belmont" your going to be singing a different tune!! I'm not trying to be funny but its really not right how they operate and you havent even heard of 90% of what goes on!! this is no "one time thing" I blame the STATE OF OHIO for even leaving the place open.

You have severe problems. People are paying their " debt " to society by being incarcerated. They DO NOT deserve to be killed. COs have a hard job but just in every occupation there are good and bad COs

There are 2700 inmates at that prison, it was built to hold 1400. There are an average of 45 officers on shift at any time. The officers cant be everywhere. If you want more safety for inmates and/or staff push for more officers to be hired or more prisons to be built.
The inmate struck by lightning was on the yard when the officers were attempting to close the yard. Had he been more willing to listen to the officers and get off the yard he'd likely still be alive. An officer responded and immedatly started rescue breathing and chest compressions until medical arrived.

Wow some of you are just brutal!! this prison is no different from any other. the county jail where i live has deaths, and the guards try to cover it up there too. so it isn't just this facility. and id say 9 times out of 10 someone who pays those consequences didnt deserve it. however i think a little street justice for the sex offenders or killers is appropriate lol..sorry! but more often than not, im sure that isnt the case...they probably committed way less serious crimes and for whatever reason they pissed someone off enough that they lost their lives. is sad no matter what the scenario!

Peggy Sue, get a life. Don't talk about subjects that you have no understanding of!

Nothing in this world is perfect and the same goes for our prison system. For me, some things about prison were much better than I expected before I went down. Some other things were much worse. Some CO's I was around seemed to be hard-working and honest people while others were careless jerks that actually enjoyed physically HURTING inmates every chance they got. I seen one CO, at Belmont, run over an inmate with a golf cart. The inmate was standing in the yard chatting to 4-7 other inmates. The CO to my knowledge never got in trouble for doing that. I seen another CO throw a little 5'3" inmate into a brick wall soo ward that it broke the guys leg... Just because the guy took/stole a Playboy magazine from a CO's desk.

The housing units in Belmont have only two cameras in them. They help but only a little. There needs to be more like six cameras. I've seen a lot of stuff happen in there that the cameras could not see.

For those of you that do enjoy seeing inmates suffer more than just incarceration think about this... At some point in time those inmates WILL be released to the streets. Violence breeds only violence.

Incarceration needs to be structured.

BELMONT NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN. IT'S A HELL HOLE. AND ANY PERSON THAT THINKS DIFFERENT NEEDS YOUR PERFECT ASS THROWED UP IN THERE. PEOPLE NEEDS TO GET A PETION SIGNED AGAINST THEM AND SEND IT OUT TO THE ATTORNEY GENERALS OFFICE. THEY NEED SHUT DOWN, NOBODY DESERVES TO BE RAPED, EXTORTED, THROATS SLIT. WHERE ARE THESE LAZY ASS GUARDS? I CAN ANSWER THAT? BRINGING DRUGS INTO THE FACILITY.I BEEN THERE LOT'S OF TIMES IN THE VISITING ROOM. YOU WON'T BE SMUGGLING MUCH IN THERE! SO HOW DOES IT GET INTO BELMONT? I GUESS IT FLIES OVER THE COCO NEST? WAKE UP MR. WARDEN AND GET OFF YOUR LAZY ASS AND HELP THE GUARDS RUN (YOUR) PRISON THAT YOU GET PAID SO WELL TO FUNCTION. IF YOU CAN NOT RUN IT GET THE HELL OUT OF THERE AND LET SOMEONE THAT IS MORE ADEQUATE AT BEING A WARDEN. WHEN AN INMATE IS MURDERED OR NEGLECTED AND DIES, CALL AVERY FRIEDMAN IN CLEVELAND OHIO HE'S A GOOD CIVIL ATTY. HOPE YOU PEOPLE THAT ARE HATERS DON'T END UP THERE OR ONE OF YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS. LOT'S OF INNOCENT PEOPLE ARE IN PRISON OR HAVE MADE ONE ERROR OF JUDGEMENT AND END UP IN BELMONT THE SCUM HOLE.

my son was there and when i picked him up he was so high on crack and skinny that i told the guard there it's a damn shame how he looked and i should refuse to bring him from there and he just put his head down. what a wonderful place? what else would an addict desire? be where it's plentiful. the government needs to step up and stop the drug's at the core. the institutions are the CORE!!!!!!!!! they just come out ready to rob and steal again and again. what kind of rehabilitation is that?

it is really bad right now for real. they extorting the new inmates like crazy. and beating the hell out of them of course they are offering protection money. hey MR. WARDEN if you can't stop the crimes in there? what good are you? step down and let someone else run the drug and crime den. hire me just buy my food and pay my motel bill and i would go after the inside corruption and turn the place into a place to learn and re-habilitate these men before they go back into society. the way it is they are living a better life in your institution than in the streets. some of those men support there families on the outside that's how much money they are making off drug's and extortion. i challenge the warden to put some young U.S. MARSHALL'S in your prison????? you know this is the fact's. shame on you for the lives that are being ruined and tortured inmates. you do know what i am talking about!!!!!!!!!! this is not a question this is the bare fact's.

yes i will keep in touch with you! there is an attorney in cleveland name avery friedman he handles cases like these. they can be made to exhume his body, this does not even sound right??????????1 a c.o. is not a medical personell, why would it be his job to take his temperature? it would not be his or her job. you need closure and answers. call this attorney and see what he states? it is free for a consultation and if he takes the case he will take the money out of your check when he wins the case. but we will get to the bottom of it just as soon as my nephew gets out, if not we know other people that was there at the time you said. we will track the witnesses down.
