That's your conscience calling. Even for the relatively heartless, that never goes away either.

You see...well lets start over. I have this thing about being lied to, having my friends lose their homes and jobs, being told how and when I can own a weapon. I just have this gut feeling that this president has failed us all...including you. I feel sorry for those folks who don't see this. Have a better day.

My day is just fine, thank you.

But you provide good reasons to hate George W. Bush, who created your problems. As for owning guns, I believe the process should be difficult, not easy.

I have confidence, or at least some hope, that Obama will overcome Republican obstructionism, and put most of his programs in place. I think Obama can make this a much better and fairer country.
I believe it is you who deserves the pity.

Tax businesses and who ends up paying for it? He's made gas go through the roof and who ends up suffering the most because of it? Any more programs that you would like to see implimented by Obama? Gun control you say? I guess we could expand the Mexican Drug Cartels business to include illegal guns. ROTFLMAO!!!

You're being unrealistic. First of all, it was learned that the hole dug by Bush was much deeper than had been thought. Second, Obama has made some progress, and we are no longer on the brink of a worldwide depression. Progress would be a lot faster were it not for Republican obstructionism, who have put party before country.

Finally, I think Obama is a genuine, caring person, with ideas that could make for a stronger, more compassionate America. He is a rarity among politicians, and history will record his story in a very favorable way.

I hope you are right but the facts and history indicate you are wrong.
If you want to see a good old movie watch "Keeper of the Flame" (1942). The studios thought it was a bit controversial but after Pear Harbor it was released.
You can even try reading the book. There may be some big words.

Well Doo Doo, if there are big words, count me out.

Regarding Obama, what facts and what history make me wrong about Obama?

I am not going to even attempt to teach you the history of the world.

Progress, far from consisting in change, depends on retentiveness. When change is absolute there remains no being to improve and no direction is set for possible improvement: and when experience is not retained, as among savages, infancy is perpetual. Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.

George Santayana

George Santayana
The U.S. import and export of coal in the year 1492 was none/none.

Lawrence Wolf

If you consider change in this country as being absolute, or moving in that direction, you need a new mentor or a new pearl of wisdom.

In addition, I think Santayana was being condescending and a bit pseudo-intellectual here, perhaps hoping that those words would someday appear in italics.

With regard to retentiveness, I believe that is the Right's strong suit, particularly of the anal sort.

This country has its traditions, some of them worthwhile. On the other hand, the country is in dire need of change, for the better. In my opinion, President Obama wants to help bring that about. I am with him all the way.
