Yeah, the trucks are a hazard, but bikers going 30mph less than other traffic aren't :/

And we don't need a Western bypass either! So sayeth some BOS dupes! It is astonishing that they will not recognize that we need some bypass action.

Why are trucks using Earlysville Rd? Because its faster than US Parking Lot # 29.

Agree about traffic on RT 29 prompting drivers to use Earlysville Road. Been that way for years, and it's only gotten worse. Riding a bike on that road? I wish that gentleman a lot of luck.

Sup/Dup Rooker voted against Bypass in part citing environmental concerns, but had no concerns for the environment when he gave his Ok to build a reservoir (Ragged Mt) under I-64. Double standard?? Huh. Just NIMBY.

Roads are for cars and trucks.Bicycles belong on bike paths and inside neighborhoods. Why should a bicycle dictate how fast traffic goes.If I drove my car down the road as fast{or as slow} as these bicycles go ,I would be charged with impeding traffic.

Then if there is a concern for the people of this road, the trucks can be no more dangerous than bikers on County roads without a shoulder, but deep ditches and drop offs. An in areas that bikers ride 3 wide and won't get over for a vehicle. Earlysville Road is not a private road, but a state road that everyone should be able to use.

Correct. Besides, most, not all, truck drivers are better drivers than the rest.

If the traffic lights were properly synchronized on 29 maybe the trucks wouldn't use Earlysville rd. On same subject lights on Hydraulic are not synchronized. don't understand why. If lights were synchronized it would save drivers gas and reduce air pollution.

You are so right! The City of Charlottesville has spent how much money to make the city "bike-friendly"? So let the bikers use the paths that have been created just for them. The bikers should stop expecting everybody to yield to them so that they can have a joy ride. The economy is dependent on good roads for trucks and cars.

Think that the roads are for everybody? Who pays the most in road taxes? Trucks and cars. Bikes pay NOTHING to use the roads. They don't have to buy a license, or follow the rules of the road.

And Ms Mallek and the BOS- Build the Bypass, for crying out loud, and then a lot of these problems will be solved.

I think bicycles should stay off of back roads and heavy traveled roads. They run bike races where I live and they are 4 and 5 wide across the road and won't get over, so that is when you lay on the horn and scare the bageebees out of them or slam on the brakes so the tires squal and then just maybe they will move. Trucks have just as much right to the road as anyone else!!! They have a job to do unlike the bicycles they are on joy rides because obviously they don't have to work like us po' folk. KEEP BICYCLES ON PATHS AND stay off the road!!!!

All the trukers should get together and stop hauling and dropping off anything and see waht happens then. A lot of truckers live in that area and what are they souppose to do with there trucks. They pay taxes like we do and sometimes more then we do. If the County want to lose money then just pass this law and see what truckers will do. Stop hauling parts and items to stores in that area and see how long they stay in bussiness. This have to be a BIKE thing. Kick then off the roads out there and it will be safer also. They think they own the road anyway but they don't pay taxes like the truckers do but on the othere hand they could save on buying fuel by not dropping anything to the ones in that area.

"Mallek says hundreds of people from 15 neighborhoods have signed a petition to ban through truck traffic between Hydraulic Road and the airport roundabout. "We have trucking companies using Earlysville Road to get to their depot, which is north of the airport. That's happening multiple times a day," Mallek said."

This is not the first time Mallek has spoken out about traffic on Earlysville Road. If she had her way, only those who live there would be able to use it as if it is a private drive. The speed limit in Earlysville was reduced and extended -- I'm sure she got that done. Face it, Earlysville is only a crossroads, not a private community.
