Trevor McDonald bond with a killer caged for 170 years

Sir Trevor told TV Biz about his sympathy for Ronald L. Sanford, who slayed two OAPs as a 13-year-old. The former News at Ten anchor met Sanford during his encounter at the maximum security Indiana State Prison in Michigan City.

The laws in this state are awful. I can understand why some people are sentenced to death row but Sanford was 13 years old and although he committed such an atrocious crime he was a juvenile and should have been trialed as such. Has he not paid for his crimes enough in not only years but also through non existent life experiences? So much for decreasing sentences on good behaviour. Also why give them the small hope for parole if they choose the day you die anyway. What happened to human rights? I say we should sign a petition and get Sanford out! Such a shame.

I completely agree with u, even though he committed such an awful crime I feel he has more than paid for it, after all he was a young boy then and now I'm guessing he's a different person. How can they justify giving a child a sentence meant for an adult. He's not on death row but the legal system have given him a death sentence. Hearing his story brought tears to my eyes .

Delusional women! He killed two people I felt sorry for him but you have to pay for the mistakes you make. How would you like it if he killed your nan for not allowing him to cut her grass. Yes he semmed well together an sad for his previous crime and i agree it is sad what time has been wasyed but he SHOULD be there had it have been your nan? Does it cross your mond to kill elderly people pr anyone in any case when you dont et a desired result? No. And if in any case he has been a perfect prisioner why is he still in sich conditions and not in the more open and less restricted parts of the prision? There mist be some deep phycological issues, more than meets the eye. He took a life therefore in my eyes hes deserved to lose his and all rights of oporyunity. What he done was more than awful at his young tender age. What possessed him to do it anyway? Far too young to want to murder not 1 but 2 people. How was his life as a young man? Is the question I raise. He may have witnessed so much with black people being murdered daily and for what? A life of senselessness, confusion and survival. I guess the bitterness and retaliation of his state mind lead Sanford to this crime. I am intrigued and saddened by his story. And I too feel the need to write to him as well, and petition for the human rights of men caged up for their Entirity. Shocking!!

He's not on death row, he's serving 170 yrs without entitlement to parole until he is 100.
What he did was horrific and as they say you do a man's crime you do a man's time, but given he was just an impressionable 13 yr old child, should of been taken into account and hasn't he already served so enough time.. the system has failed him.
