Coburn: Congress should 'eliminate the recordkeeping' on guns in the U.S.

Feb 24, 2013 | Posted by: Mr_Bill | Full story: www.rawstory.com

Sen. Tom Coburn on Sunday said that Republicans would block any effort to extend background checks to include private firearms sales unless Congress agreed to "eliminate the recordkeeping" on guns in the United States.

So, the issue is 'crazies with guns' but we can't track the crazies? Crazy. Of course, my substitute is just as good, or even better. The last registered owner is a co-conspirator to all gun crimes committed with that gun.

There is no reason a Grandfather needs to give his Grandson his favorite pheasant gun without a complete background check on both of them. I've even heard hunting buddies will sometimes trade guns with each other! Talk about a loophole. Do you have any idea of how many criminals might pass their gun on to the next generation of criminals?

Not a problem. Coburn is saying check but government desn't get to keep the records on the Grandfather and Grandson unless they are mental or criminal.

No background check records kept on law-abiding citizens. He is right. If I'm not a wrong doer there is no reason why I should be in Federal record keeping. For what? Instant check me for a transaction and if I'm not on record as wrong doer, don't keep background record for me.

Any background check should be easy and free, and technology is such that it can be.

Also, the guns proposed for regulation are semi-atttomatics and pistols.

Does grandpa hunt pheasant with an AK-47?
Is grandpa in the Taliban?
Does grandson own a suicide bomb vest?

It's nice to have a guy like Billy enlighten us on the progressive 'facts'. So no background check is required unless you are buying/selling an AK47 or other "semi-atttomatics and pistols" Good thing to know, I thought maybe it covered Remington 1100's or a Browning A5 (both semi-automatics and both good pheasant guns).

The actual fact is congress is moving towards a background check and record retention for ANY transfer of ANY gun. Records will be kept on every single gun and every single gun owner. It would be impossible to track guns and gun owners if the federal government doesn't keep the records. Sorry Billy, but you really do need to keep up with what is really being proposed.

Really? The tea-bag congress wants to 'take away' your gun?

Keep dreaming, bub.

I did not know that Harry Reid was tbagger. You progressive left wing liberal O-bots have all the fun. Facts are irrelevant and the truth is what I say it is.

Let me try. The 2% payroll tax Obama put into effect in January was NOT a tax on working people, even though their paycheck was less. Hey, not bad. Let me try another one. NOBODY could have foreseen a terrorist attack happening on 9/11 in Benghazi, so quit talking about it, it wasn’t anybody’s fault, and probably never happened. NBC, CBS and ABC are more critical of Obama then they have been on any other president in history. It is the Republicans that won't let a budget come up for a vote in the Senate, not even one, in nearly 5 years. I have to admit, it is fun and easy.

When it comes to 'progressive truth' Billy, you are the man!

Harry Reid does not want your gun. The whole 'take your gun' thing is the NRA saying that so morons like you hear it over and over and then repeat it as you do. I see the NRA lie in the mouth of a woodenhead.

That 2% was the restoration of Social Security payments which I believe never should have been cut; but our government decided to cut to stimulate the economy. Elimination of a temporary cut is not 'increasing taxes.' You must pay your way, bub, and you will thank SS and the democrats for saving it; when you retire.

The terrorist attack on our embassy in Lybia was a terrible thing, and no, the CIA had no warning at all; (unlike 9/11/01.)

As you know, embassy security was cut be GOP VP candidate Paul ryan, yet can't really blame him for this, although he and the GOP congress share the mst blame if bleme were apportioned.

This sad day is not really appropriate to politicize, especially using lies to transfer the blame to the president or Sec. State.
SO, If you really, really need to point your finger, point at that pencil-neck hatchet-face geek from Wisconsin's 1st District.

And the budget is the job of the House, silly GOP-passed rules notwithstanding.

People will say "Those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it" and by even entertaining gun laws like this is opening the door to gun control being switched to taking all guns.

And when that time comes the same people calling for gun owners to let this crap happen will be the first crying about how they thought they were doing the right thing.

This is not a guess , Nazi Germany did the same thing. And all of the supporters of the gun laws ended up just as much of a victim as those who fought them.

History has always repeated its self. To think we are past that is just blind stupidity that can and will bite us int he ass. Being that Obama has not kept his word on even one thing. Spent 6 trillion US dollars in his first 4 year term(with nothing to see from it). Enacted a executive order for Martial Law in war time and in peace that also allows the Federal Government to seize land without reason or cause. And gave himself a free right to kill Americans with Drones if HE deems them to be a threat (Without proof or even an oversight committee). And last but not least DHS and ICE ordering millions of Hollow Point rounds (Illegal by the Geneva Convention).

Well I guess we should just trust that his reasons are valid huh? Hitler would be proud of Obama.... he would gas him anyway but he would have been proud of him when his flipped the switch.

You sorry loser.

To state that I am "paranoid psychotic" is funny at best.

I have not stated anything that cannot be proven with ease.
To even make a statement like this on your part is simply as childish as a 6 year old calling another kid a "doody head" because the other child could read better then he could.

I did not attack you but purely pointed out 100% truth and I pointed out nothing that cannot be proven. A simple google search on the things I shared with you will show this to be accurate.

And I also thank you for proving a point on why any changes to the gun laws would and will be abused. Claim someone to be crazy even though they speak the truth and soon freedom of speech is what will cost you your right to own a gun? Claim all who do not agree with your way of speaking to be a "paranoid psychotic" and take away their right to own a fire arm...Even if the statements are 100% true.

By the way bud , a "Loser" would never try to help you understand. A "loser" would let personal feeling blindly lead the way without question or reason.
