Quoted from the linked article:
"We use our criminal justice system to label people of color criminals, and then engage in practices that we supposedly left behind."

"Alexander outlined how it appears to be "perfectly legal to discriminate against criminals," and that "once you're labeled a felon, the old forms of discrimination, employment discrimination, housing discrimination, denial of the right to vote, exclusion from jury service are suddenly legal."

Apparently in Alexanders world, there are no white convicted felons. Either that or she just doesn't care about the felons who are not "people of color".

In order for true racial equality, all races must become colorblind.

Ah, I am a white felon and face the same discrimination as "people of color." It isn't right. I have worked hard to turn my life around.

That may be true, but Ms. Alexander is not concerned with your fate.

Voluntary and community work don't pay the bills. There are companies that go out of their way to hire x-cons. Unfortunately for Mr. Lewis you have to get your hands dirty and get rid of the chip on your shoulder. Moving companies are one, for a start.
The timing of this article is interesting considering the law forbidding employers from asking about criminal backgrounds that the liberals are trying to pass.

Sounds like you've got a choice to let folks have a second chance or fail... Love the religious right.... calling for FAIL.

Another voter block for the liberal side.

Always bothered me.... Romney didn't give the GI a clean slate for a BB gun shot at 15.

I still don't understand why taking the question about felony convictions off of job apps will make a bit of difference. Most, if not all companies these days will do a criminal background check on all prospective employees. Then the jig is up and companies are under no obligation to tell you why you were not selected for a job, other than, "the position has been filled".

Google the list of businesses that are willing to hire ex-cons, there are a couple hundred of them. It's easier to go to your local news paper and complain about the inability to get a job than to actually look for one.
And, liberal politicians are always looking for a solution that needs a problem.

I can tell you for a fact, it will make no difference.

By the time any intelligent company sets an employment contract in front of you, they will know more about you than you know about yourself.

However, this is one more intrusion into the private sector by the nanny state government.

I truly believe the Leftists want to have all job candidates funneled to private companies through a state job agency. They decide who you will interview, and eventually who you will hire.

It's all about controlling those evil people who take the risk and become successful.

This is where I hope that the Sociopath Slewblomkin and Company, READ my post.

There are probably a MILLION Laws,(Regulations), in Amerika.

Between Local, State, and Federal Governments, Laws exist that criminalize virtually any activity that Free People engage in.

These Laws are selectively enforced, as has been made Crystal Clear by our Messiah and his Royal Pen.

It is not just King Barry though. "Prosecutor Discretion" has made a Joke of every Law.

Today, the word "Illegal" has lost all meaning, and is now interchanged with "Criminal" as though they are the same thing.

Free people engage in "Illegal Activities" every day!

The Illegal Activity is selectively enforced which results in "Criminal" Charges, and enrichment for Lawyer Judges, Lawyer Prosecutors, Lawyer Defense Attorney's, and every Employee of the Law Enforcement Industries of Amerika.

Lets just take someone like Slewblomkin.

Does anybody not know that he is "Criminally" minded? Is there any doubt that the reason for Laws is to protect the innocent from her?

BUT, what she does "Here" is not "Illegal", but certainly it is "Criminal". The law does not protect the Innocent from it.

Clearly she does not limit her abuses of Human Beings to other Posters on a Message Board. So where is the Millions Strong Law that should remove her from society?

The Law is oppressive, and no Law should be made by Legislature's that does not answer one question first, "How does this Law impact Human Freedom and Personal responsibility"
