We don't need English to carry out our island living in Puerto Rico. If any US mainlander wants to live among us, island Puerto Ricans, he/she HAS to learn Spanish or be ostracized to the few English only "die hards"....LOL Any US mainlander who wishes a translation of official state documents is entitled to them UPON REQUEST.

Santorum is all over the national news(i.e. Fox, CNN, NBC) trying to explain his "language requirement" for Puerto Rico...since his about to loose, not only the 23 Puerto Rican votes, but the primaries in such states with large Latino population such as Texas, California, New Mexico, etc.

What can I say? He's from Pennsylvania which is not exactly the promised land for Latinos. Philadelphia has been one of the most racist cities in the U.S. The rest of PA is not far behind.

The "misuderstanding, taking comment out of context" route is the only way for him to go, frankly. Now, he is trying to do a "tapdance". His point on Puerto Rico should be fired..Santorun really bungled this up. Both sides cn capitalize on this.

An asset??? It is a necessity. My alma mater in Massachusetts just wrote me that some of their classes will be held IN SPANISH (incredible, isn't it????). Here on the island, at a college level, classes are held in Spanish while homework is done in English....
