My ancestors came over illegally... Really, and where did you turn up that little gem? I'm unaware of any laws dealing with immigrants then. Perhaps you'd point us to them.

I'll not argue that horrific atrocities occurred that should not have, but I do take issue with your term 'illegal' as it pertains to Europeans coming to the US long ago.

Why cant we apply that local logic to all laws? LOL great comment.(Might it be a lack of logic and denial of histories lessons?)

K eeping it real....nothing. My NY license is valid. That was the point... due to the illegals getting licenses etc the DMV of NY took no stock in a suspension order from NM.
I'm sorry you had that experience here. Not all of the people here are assbackwards. It's interesting to know the opinion other states have about our systems here. Not suprising and really helpful. Hopefully lol!

I understand that this case may be one in a million. Trust me in NYC police misconduct is a frequent occurance. What is frustrating is that I was there to appear and resolve the case. I dont think I was wrong in getting miffed about what appeared to me to be a legalized shake down. If I had shown at at nppn I can even realize why a warrant was issued but to be there the moment they opened the dorrs seemd absurd to me. And from what others have told me the court system in Aztec seems to be the one onstant when it comes to stories of this sort.

I dunno. We can even get residents charged with serious crimes here. I suspect they figured you were a quick revenue source. Good for you for sticking to your guns! It still must really suck to have this held over your head. Hopefully, this will all be settled for you so you can visit NM again.

What your describing is the exact reason that we live in a poor state as serious money would be afraid to invest here for fear of Dukes of Hazzard style corruption. In Florida they steal from the tourists too.

I was in Alamogordo court paying a traffic ticket when I met a man from Minnesota. He and his wife were on a honeymoon and were traveling from Californa on their new motorcycle, headed back toward Minnesota.

They had been stopped at a BP checkpoint at White Sands. In those days there was a State cop named Skinner that was a real p&ick. He was there hassling people he didnt have probable cause to pull over. He saw a cruise control on the guy's motorcycle and wrote him a ticket for it! IT IS AGAINST THE LAW IN NEW MEXICO TO HAVE A CRUISE CONTROL ON A MOTORCYCLE!

So here he was, the very next morning waiting for the judge. Now in those days there was a judge named Price that was a double dipping $hit eater. He came in and said three words,"Guilty or innocent?" The guy said innocent and ol' fat judge Price set his court date for two months in the future and a bond of $250.

The guy handled it well, he patiently protested and told the judge he was from out of town and couldnt travel back for court in two months. The judge asked him if he wanted to change his plea. The fellow said no, that he wanted to explain and settle it right here. The judge said no. He protested a little harder and the judge offered him a jail cell and a contempt charge.

About that time his new bride spoke out and said,"This isnt fair!" and the judge turned to the deputy and said,"Remove her from the court." When the deputy moved the guy came unglued and said,"THIS IS NOT FAIR!!" and the juge had both of them taken out of the courtroom!

After a few minutes hearing other cases the wife was back in the courtroom. The deal was that she would go to the bank and get $750.$250 for an illegal cruise control,$250 contempt of court (him) and $250 contempt (her). She was being let out for one hour to get the money and if she was not back in the courtroom in one hour a warrant would be issued for her. The motorcycle was in the impound yard so she didnt have transportation to get to the bank and she was in a strange town.

She left the courtroom and I was next in line. I had been caught with a roach in the ashtray at the BP checkpoint by that cockroach Skinner. I got 2 days in jail and a $150 fine.

I always wondered how that couple fared in Alamogordo. I hope she got the money and got the hell out of that place.

Bottom line, it will pay, in the long run, to get this issue resolved. In the interim, you can slam SJC all you want....we've gotten by in the past, we'll struggle to survive in the future.
If you are, as you say, victimized by the "system" in SJC, prove it. Present your case to those who can absolve you.
My opinion? You broke the law, you were cited. You tried to set things right and were given guidance as to how you should handle the circumstances which were out of the norm. Beyond that, you were confronted with an entirely different authority than you'd dealt with via telephone. Both circumstances were understandible. You and the court/officer.
A misunderstanding. Take care of it. Put on your big boy pants and get it taken care of.
This is still a wonderful state, a wonderful community. Your experience is unfortunate. But, it was your initial conduct and misinformation which brought it to this extreme. We're proud of our heritage, our state, our community. You are welcome to return, just don't break the law.

Agree with you about the courts. I am schedualed for jury duty soon and plan on informing my fellow jurors that we are judging both the defendant and the law.

What is it about "illegal" that some people don't understand? Or is it that they "won't?"

CAN YOU BELIEVE the rancher who held illegals until the border arrived was found guilty of assault and causing them to suffer from a stress disorder?
His mistake was calling the border patrol.
If it happens again do you think he will call them or just shoot?
The judge should be removed from office. If the government can not or will not protect its citizens then it is their right to protect their selves.
Now the Question is how do we protect our selves from the Government?
There is a limit to how far we as citizens can be pushed on this illegal problem and we have just about reached it.
IT IS TIME TO CLOSE OUR SOUTHERN BORDERS AND IF THE GOV. WILL NOT DO IT THEN WE SHOULD.
Where was this at? He was found guilty?
Man what a crock of shhiiit!!! DEPORT!!!

Damn I hate these illegals attitude of defiance & entitlement!

That is a prime example of why a judge could be shot...& the shooter defended & found not guilty!!??
