If someone speaks of secularism like Salman Taseer,he is bumped off and his murderer gets a shower of rose petals from lawyers.

The Judge refuses to hear the case for he fears for his life.

If someone wants to empower women so they can have an income and look after themselves they are bumped off!!

These are steps towards an Islamic Utopia where the misogyny of the Islamic message is taken to its logical conclusion!

If one reads the story, one gets an impression that the sisters were working in a tribal society, tradition - bound, poorly educated, regressive and a strong touch of Islamic fundamentalism at work as well!

I don't think that even god can bring this people to modernity!

I don't think that the poor woman is going to get received in heaven or her murderer is going to hell.

This is going to scare a lot of well-intentioned people away from these acts of altruism and the wretched "tribal belt" will move away from civilization, and the Islamic Utopia, where women are treated like cattle.

There is going to be riposte to my post-"Hindus are no better,India has same sad stories to offer"..
yes,India has bad record in treatment -but there is no organized religious back up for acts- it happens, when it does,it is due to poor education or again some traditional society.

India makes up for these shortcomings with strength of Parliament enacted laws working for women empowering them.

My favorite fantasy is demolishment of regressive Islamic seminaries in India and replacing it vocational training for women, particularly Muslim women so they get well paying jobs and nix this Islamic obsession with ill treating women!

I wish people would ease on religion.

God is a good concept to live by....if one can live up to being a good human.

God in politics sucks big time.....in Pakistan,it seems to me,god is being roped in to loot the country by the entrenched wealthy,to justify an Army hijacking a state ...and,now,talk of an "islamic welfare state"...

it is not going to work.

In Asia's NIC's ( newly industrialized countries) like Japan,HK,Singapore,Taiwan,S Korea and of course,China and India.....the banking was done not on god but on commerce trade and technology and education.

Wonder how is it possible to build a welfare state when there is not sufficient wealth to fund that welfare state?
