I had 14 teeth pulled and a lower bridge and a full top denture plate done for me. I stayed in Yuma a couple of nights and took a taxi to the border town. Walked a couple blocks to a recommended dentist. Los Algodones is the name of the Mexican city. It is the dentist capital of Mexico. Almost too many dentist (more than 500 dental shops), hard to choose one if you didn't have in recommended. Also eye and hearing aid medical devices available. The dentist was very professional and spoke good English. She showed me every tooth after the extractions, explaining details on every tooth. She had me come back 2 times for fittings on my dentures. It cost me $1650 for everything. I would of paid more than $7000 in the U.S. I am VERY, VERY happy with the procedure and final work done. It has been 4 months since, still happy. Go to Mexico.

I recently had work done in Tijuana, MX and have been pleased so far. With all dental work, even in the US, it takes a long time to know if it's good or bad.

Originally I was going to get my work caught up, but like them do much I think it's worth a 2 hour drive each way. I have so much work work because of faulty US dental work-despite going to the dentist every 6 months. One tooth kept getting abscessed and cracked and my new dentist found cotton left in it. They also asked what happened that there were roots if a tooth but no top-that was the tooth I paid a US oral surgeon to remove.

Oh, when I said I didn't have enough money to pay for all I needed done, the dentist said my health was more important than compensation and we'd work it out. Find a US dentist that cares that much! Instead they give you antibiotics and tell you to cimr back when you can affird it, and call you on a regular basis to see when you're coming back. The Mexican dentist was trained at USC so he has the same training as US dentists.

Some may say you get what you pay for, but try to remember there is such a thing as overpaying! Many, not all, US dentists are business men first and dental professionals second. Both the Mexican dentists I was with obviously liked being dentists first and foremost.

Post positive information on Mexico dentists and how to contact one you have used: Any would be better than trying completely on my own. Please post it in a public reply. Thanks: Money is the issue as it is for so many of us.

I would regard with amusement any dentist who thinks they can 'disinfect' a root canal.

Bad teeth need to come out, not leaving dead tissue in your jaw to rot away.

well bob you are very ignorant.. dentistry evolved a lot and so did endodontics, the branch that handles root canal treatments.
do a search for 'continous wave obturation technique' and you will change your mind.

As the need to go to Mexico for dental work is because of the high cost of dental work for the uninsured, I wonder how much of this will continue if Obamacare goes through (isn't overturned by the Supreme Court).

I am a vietnam veteran and since being out of the service the USA dentist just lv to pull teeth. I am NOW out of four pulled teeth and a replacement cost of USA est of $5000.00 each replacement bridge.
$20.000.00 ,you got to be kidding!!! I just get by with working hard and keeping up paying my mortage on my home and other bills.
What makes it worse is that after serving my country in the United States Army there is NO dential help from them unless %100 percent disabled.
Yep....a Mexican visit?? What other choice do I have.
Thanks America........:(

I went to Denticenter, in Tijuana but they have several clinics in other cities. You can do a search for an article on them featured on CNN. They are a little more than other Mexican dentists, but they have been reviewed by Delta dental who checks their sterilization practices, and verifies all the dentists resumes.

I have also had allot of cheap dentistry in the USA which is why I went to Mexico and met a dentist that was like a fine Jewlerand my mouth is beautiful and healthy. All done with Natural medicinals instead of POharmisudical. I think it is GREAT...
ToothLady wrote:
Yes, I have seen a lot of cheap Mexican Dentistry in my 20+ years as a dental hygienist. The vast majority of it is poorly done, and eventually leads to periodontal problems and recurrent decay.
The average patient has no way of distiguishing an almost perfect crown from one that fits worse than a poorly made temporary, and thus harbors dangerous bacteria.Patients only know if the dentist is "nice", "gentle", etc.
ALL FILLINGS, CROWNS OR BRIDGES ARE NOT CREATED EQUAL, AND MOST OF THE TIME YOU DO GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!
I find it sad that some people who could afford better care are willing to risk tooth loss to save money. They would rather spend the difference in cost on that Mexican vacation, than on better quality care.
By the way, I now work in Public Health Dentistry, and will not even indirectly profit from promoting this message.

I went to Mexico after Having very bad work done here in the United states. I found a Jewler that was like a fin Jewler, who uses Natural Med's instead of Pharmaceutical that were so advanced I thought. I really recomend going across the border and the price alone was only 25% of what it would cost U here. Try it and have fun. U might think about a beach location...and a resort.. and still save,,lol

I just love to see and hear all of the people who have never been to a Dentist in Mexico tell everyone else how bad they are. My family and I have been going to Los Algadones, Mexico for many years for Dental work at reasonable prices. The Hygenist at the local Dentist goes there now since we sent her there because her daughter needed extensive dental work and it was cost prohibitive to get it done in the United States yet affordable in Mexico.
My wife needed 3 crowns and a root canal, in the States that was $3725.00, got 3 crowns done in Mexico for $590.00 and there was no need for the root canal. Then my wife asked about getting her teeth whitened, the Dentsit said she had cavities in the past and they wouldn't look right so she suggested Veneers, got a Hollywood smile on all of her front teeth for $1500.00, the Dentist in the States wanted $6,500.00 for the same thing. Oasis Dental has 2 Dentists from the United States working there and they teach in the off time at the University. I love to go there and buy my leather good (Belts, suit cases etc) while down there for Dental work. There are so mant snowbirds down there it takes forever to get back across the border unless you use the peddle bikers to take you to the border because they go to the front of the line and you pay them $5.00 for no waiting. I drive down there to get medications that are getting out of hand here in the States yet very affordable in Mexico, same med in the same packages made by the same company for less than 1/3 the price. Mexico is the only way to go, trust me on that one.
