Dude you need to leave those peyote buttons alone and have some coffee and sober up.

The people from spain came to this continent and mixed with the Aztecs who lived way south of the border and that is where mexicans came from, the intermingling of the two races.

But before spain ever came here, the American Indians lived on the land that is now the US.

The US was 1st the home of American Indians. Long before there was a mexico, so your words just fell like rain into the desert.

Do you speak Nahuatl?

I doubt it.

If you were Aztec that would be your language.

There will soon be a federal sweep across this land by Homeland Security and the military, with FEMA providing housing with electric fences.

Good for you. You hit the nail on the head.If the US stole land from anyone it was the AMERICAN INDIANS. How many AMERICAN INDIANS were used as slaves by the Spanish and the Mexicans. Maybe we need to use the Mexicans in the same way as they did the Blacks and Indians!!!!!!!!! Ron in Phoenix

One of the bigger things that kills me about this whole immigration movement bullshit is the bullshit argument that Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, etc. were somehow "stolen" from Mexico by the big, bad, evil USA. Oh, because, that's right, Mexico was such a peace loving utopia with the most magnanimous leaders this world has ever seen until we provoked them into finally taking up arms (and, they would have us believe, they did so begrudgingly). GIVE ME A FUCKING BREAK. Ever heard of the Constitution of 1824??? Where was your fucking peace-loving Mexican Utopia when Santa Anna decided to wipe that Constitution with his ass??? If any nation was ever a war-mongering, land-grabbing nation it was Mexico, and Spain before it. We stole the southwestern states??? Go cry me a river. Apparently history began when Mexico lost their land. Bullshit.

The only thing someone who professes this bullshit can say, while still being honest, is that we won, they lost, and they are bitter about it. And it's not as if their culture made such a huge impact at the time to even claim that it was a de facto Mexican state. This isn't the Rhineland. This isn't Alsace-Lorraine. The culture(s) in these regions, be they American, German, Scandinavian, Irish, American Indian, or anything else, not only rivaled but overpowered the "overwhelming" Mexican influence they claim they had. These regions were more Americanized than angry Mexicans today could ever hope to believe (why do you think Santa Anna rescinded the Constitution of 1824??? Texas was becoming too American and too hard to control under Mexican rule.). Most Mexican culture that is now commonplace in these regions is because of the gracious, freedom-loving culture of the US that embraces other cultures and allows outsiders to practice their customs freely, not because these regions are just "so obviously Mexican". If Mexico wants to claim these regions as their own, then I suggest they order their "army" to gather both their rifles, get on their squadron of mules, and just try to "take it back". Otherwise, shut the fuck up, stop taking advantage of a putrid welfare system, and, hey, here's an idea, maybe try to improve your own damn country instead of holding the US responsible for it being the shithole that it is.

Wise, Light Rain, Ron, specially Cole Schellinger all say some truth...
Schellinger is it German?
Indigenous people lived in this vast continent prior to the European arrival. Some Indigenous civilizations were peaceful, other were warriors and somewhere both and much more advance then others. Indigenous civilizations conquered others, no different to their European, Asian, African, and Oceanian counterparts.
The fact remains the spoils goes to the victor!
Do you recall the "Manifest Destiny" where the United States Government wanted to own the land between two oceans?
The United States bought Florida from the Spaniards under duress (Indian/Indigenous Issues)... The USA then looked towards the west to continue its expansion, but then the Spaniards lost to Mexico...
Mexico wins its independence; it gains and rules vast nations under a Centralize Government, as their predecessors did...
The Spaniards saw a rise of rejects/wetbacks from the USA entering into Texas... The Spaniards decided to give them land to farm and prosper, but they had to convert to CATHOLICISM... the Spaniards preferred to give land to foreigners then to its own people and the Mexican Government continued with the same stupid/idiotic policy.
After Mexican independence, the United States offered to buy Texas and the California territory.
Mexico said no!
Benito Juarez wanted to decentralize the Mexican Government allowing States to self govern simulating the United States and giving land to its people to farm and or build business for immediate and future prosperity. Benito Juarez sent Agent to the USA to learn of the new industrial revolution and he eagerly wanted to bring progress to Mexico...
Benito Juarez loss the political battle with "LOS CASIQUES" the rich families in Mexico who ignorantly preferred to deny the progress to all within the nation... Mexico was doomed from this point forward!
These ungrateful rejects/wetbacks created a revolt in Texas...
We have two different "POLITICAL DOGMAS" the USA assimilated their cousins mentality (Brits) of prosperity with a believe in allowing the Anglo men to move ever forward and to take advantage of the opportunities that may arise, at all cost.
Mexico "LOS CASIQUES" sad but true assimilated the mentality of the (Spaniards) which was our own undoing...
Even if Mexico would of won the war against the United States, peasant would have continued to be peasants and "THE CASIQUES" would of continue to be wealthier, until parts of the country would revolt and demanded independence from Mexico.
If Mexican soldiers and peasants were guaranteed land for them and/or their families, they would of fought to the death, following the lead of the San Patricio's (Brave Irish men who fought alongside with the Mexican soldiers to the end)... I bet you didn't know that? History would of been different, and the Anglos/Europeans would of continued to be wetbacks!
I reiterate the spoils goes to the victor, in this case to the USA!
Yes, your right Mexico, Central and South America governments are responsible in providing: Adequate infrastructure, employment opportunities and secure its regions to bring long-term prosperity.
The sad part of all this we as humans are not evolving intellectually; due to our egos, greed, desire for power end result history in a negative way will repeat itself as technology surpasses us…

The sad part about it, i.e. California, millions of mexicans settling there have turned a once beautiful state into cesspool. Everywhere they go, the neighborhoods become slums, this is their culture and it will remain their culture. They are here to invade and take over, the gangs, the slums, the financial burden, the many diseases, etc. are living proof. We can either do something or be their slaves.

Your right, all cultures have a dark/negative side!

Once again!!! All of you here have missed the point here! By having a thriving economy and responsible governing around the world, less people would migrate illegally.

I agree, as a Mexican! The Mexican, Central America, Eastern Europe, Africa, and other regional governments should stop stealing from its people. Lets assume that all immigrants return from where they came from, I mean all (including EUROPEANS)!

Who is going to work in your USA agricultural, construction, hospitality and other Industry? Anglos for piecework? Who will work in low paying positions through out the USA?

Who complaints about WALMART? Yet everyone shops there!

If low paying positions are non-existing, due to lack of individuals willing to do the work at peanut wages...

Welcome to a NEW EUROPE USAVILLE!!! GALLON OF MILK,$9.00, GAS $9.95, a soft drink $5.00 and so forth...

I assume all you here; have some basic peanut intelligence to understand economics. Higher wages, means you shall pay more at retail levels, inflation sets in, the dollars is worth less...

Real estate (residential, commercial, and industrial) will be as expensive as in Europe! Owning real estate is a form for regular US Citizens to accrue some soft of equity or even wealth in the long term, but it will be out of your reach. Option buy with 3 or more families just for one property... What a way of life!!!

It’s human nature to blame others for your mistakes and/or weaknesses of the Nations.

We are your scapegoats! I get it, after a while it becomes redundant and boring!!!

If you want and need to be upset, be upset with US Companies/Firms who rather sent US jobs/careers to India, China and other regions of the world.

Why?

US Companies/Firms need to make a profit and perform for their stockholders!

Why?

US citizens/New Roman Citizens bitch and complain of how little money they make.

Who complaints of immigrants (Legal or Illegal)?

US citizens/New Roman Citizens, who are not educated and lack the skills to compete with others!

Would you like some affirmative action to benefit you?

What’s the solution?

Learn other languages, be open to new ideas and go global.

No one is trying to take your way of life! I have my own life to live!!!

Sure… Close all borders including the one on the NORTH (Canada)... No more visas for anyone!

Become an isolated nation; hmm it reminds me of CHINA years back!

Can we all just, get along?

Be intelligent, think before you put a horseshoe in your mouth!

Before any of you speak...think...
Before any of you claim to know all that you need to know regarding any of the above mentioned do your research.

One of you asked if someone spoke the language of the Aztects...perhpas you wonder if any Mexican now speaks the language of ancient cultures...

The answer is yes.
There are several ancient languages still spoken in the country of Mexico.

Did you know that?

Someone said "...US was 1st the home of American Indians. Long before there was a mexico, so your words just fell like rain into the desert.

Do you speak Nahuatl?

I doubt it."

Well I, as a "Mexican" do not speak Nahuatl...however, if I were to have been given the chance to learn I would. Just because I don't speak the language that my ancestors spoke does not mean I am not Aztec...I speak the language that the Conquistadores forced on my ancestors...just like English was forced on the Natives of this America.

Just like Mexico came into existence by the mixing of the
indigenous people and the Spaniards...

This country grew from a mixing of many cultures.

None of which is better than the other...
All have their good and all have made and continue to make their mistakes.

Before I attempt to open your minds I challenge you to do your research...

I will continue mine.

Some of the idiocy and bigotry on this page is stunning.

Chylloh wrote:

That has to one of the most idiot comments I have ever read. What the hell do you mean "once beautiful? California is one of the nations richest states, in fact if it were an independent nation, it would be among the top 10 richest! And hell, there's a hell of a lot of Mexicans there!

Yes, the entire southwest was STOLEN! Read about what President Polk did to invade Mexican territory, he lied to Congress to wage war! California was annexed under the table.

Fact is idiot white people don't have the vaguest idea that indigenous people DO live in MEXICO! THEY STILL SPEAK THEIR NATIVE DIALECT! And if any of you fucking dip-shitted-Americans knew anything about this land's history, you'd know that the Aztecs, who called themselves Mexika (pronounced Meh-shee-kuh) came from the North which would be the Southwest of the US (commonly referred to as Aztlan)... Look up the words UTO-AZTEC and you'll see that many Southwestern tribes (like the Yuma indians of Arizona) speak the Mexika dialect. On top of that, the state of Utah is named after the UTO-AZTEC tribes!

Hello, I am Russian. Surprised? I entered your discussion because I am interested in migration issues (Mexico-US). I speak both English and Spanish (I mean, Mexican Spanish). Half of my life... no, all my life I have been working for Europeans and Americans as a local staff (in various projects and public institutions). I have never worked with Mexicans, but I travelled to Mexico many times, and I have a lot of friends there. I also have friends among Americans. Also, I have undertaken independent research into indigenous cultures. Of special interest is zapatista movement of Chiapas (my favourite, my beloved Tierra above all in Mexico).

I love Mexican culture and Mexican history. Here in Russia we have the biggest web-page dedicated to Mesoamerican cultures: www.mesoamerica.ru (Russian only, with part of literature published in English and Spanish - in Library section)

This web-page has its forum, too. Strange enough, but in its part called "Indians at Present" we once discussed the issue of wetbacks and Mexican migration to the U.S. Again, I was surprised that some of our people (quite educated people) took the side of the most conservative Americans. I was even more surprised knowing that these young scholars make studies of Native American cultures.

So, Andrea - you are not right. Any name does say something only for those who know the basics of history... Coyote is associated with human smuggling only in your mind, because you obviously do not know the Mexican history. In my mind, the name Coyote gets associated with Coyoacan (Mexico City) and Nezahualcoyotl, a great Mexican governor and poet. For me, Aztlan is associated with an old Azted myth, i.e. the legendary land where Aztecs came from to Texcoco shores. I have no association with La Raza and La MeCha. For me, La Raza is a great term first invented by a great Mexican philosopher Jose Vasconcelos. By this term he meant not only Mexicans, but Mexican and North American Indians who jointly with criollos and meztisos created a great American nation. Utopia? Yes. As every Utopia, it shows us the right moral way - to start being humans, not puppets manouvered by elites.

Briefly, in your discussion I tend to associate myself with Mexican history, in spite of my being Russian. Why so? because in spite of being now, as they put it above, a "third nation", a meztiso nation, Mexico is based on high civilisations of the past. I mean, they will continue being holders, bearers and keepers of spirituality once gained by these cultures. I understand that many people do not understand the meaning of these word. Anyway, I think that education and spirituality may save this world. I am not going to spread any further.

Hermanos mexicanos, reciben todo mi amor y apoyo. Sabemos de ustedes, los apoyamos y aprendemos su cultura, sus necesidades y sus pensamientos. Con mucho amor y entendimiento de Rusia.

Hola amigo, I have seen your Moscow photos - they are lovely.:)) I will download your book and will read it, too.
Here is the link to one of the threads in our Mesoamerica forum where we discussed the migration impact on North American Indians (some texts and links are in English, and I have also translated some articles into Russian):
http://www.mesoamerica.ru/forum1/viewtopic.ph...
I am convinced that education and culture may resolve many issues in this world, including tolerance and understanding of the current political situation. Mexicans wouldn't migrate to the U.S. but for the incredible poverty they live in. The reason for this poverty is not their laziness or inability to organise their own country, but their government that has been prostituting itself in front of its Big American Master. This Big Master does not think of his own nation, too. The more people study their culture and history, the more understanding of the current situation they get. It's not Mexican people to be blamed when you start loosing your country, but the inevitable historical outcome of all the previous policies.
We have similar problems in Russia, too. After the Soviet Union collapsed, our former Republics lost the basis for their well-being, and thousands of migrants flooded Russia and especially Moscow. Who is sitting at cash-desks in big malls? Migrants from the Caucasus. Who is making cleaning in Moscow streets? Uzbek migrants. Who is raising the criminal statistics in Moscow? Migrants from the Caucasus. Many of them can hardly speak Russian. Do you think they love Russia so much, or do they want to buy a new Mersedes-600 or earn money to buy a cottage? No. Moscow is foggy, cold and not good for living. The migrants came here to work just to survive, because their families are starving in former Soviet republics. Where will they go to find the work? To Russia, as well as Mexicans would run to the U.S. Nobody wants to die.
These problems are resolved on the national, government level, but we ordinary people shall be quite aware that hate and intolerance is not a good solution.

Kudos to you, Rosomaja. You must be the smartest person here. You know the key is "understanding" and for that my respect goes to you.
Also, NAFTA isn't doing any good for Mexico, it has only benefited the U.S...the Mexican and Latin American government are all plutocracies, the same dozen European families who have controlled the countries since their Colonial times still run them. The rich and elite are not and haven't been the mestizo or indigenous populations.

The Aztecs invaded the Olmecs, then Spain invaded the Aztecs.
Europe is a mix of invaded cultures, that in-turn invaded the the Americas - in truth, we are all european, except for the native americans.
Mexicans are NOT native americans, and to claim any part of the United States belongs to them because they think they are is just another lie in a long list of lies to prop up this failed culture.
The mexican motto has long been: Lie, Cheat, and Steal. In this White Man's experience with mexicans I've never heard the truth from any, just hate & contempt for my existence.
