Unusual at the start of a case when the jurors propose questions to the lead detective. Yes, they did it through the judge. They appeared to be concerned about the competency of the investigation. This one surprised me, since as a guy who has been around (Big Dog in LA, lol), I thought the invetigator was damn good, a real pro...some cracks in the presentation of this case may be evident early on and attitudes(resentments) as to the case forming among jury members.

Patrick Henry that was just on Nancy Grace is a very good friend of mine. I've known him for over 20 years. He's the one who always tried to get me to buy Pre paid legal!!!!! Weird. I think my fascination with this case is because it is very close to home for me. I know the people who knew them and she worked practically across the street from me. The jury questions are concerning me. Juries are known for being dumbasses!

No I mean masochist:

2) pleasure in being abused or dominated : a taste for suffering

Actually #1 also fits the description of a masochist in relation to Jodi Arias, since I see her as a sadist:

a sexual perversion characterized by pleasure in being subjected to pain or humiliation especially by a love object compare sadism

*********

I guess if someone is attracted to a woman who slaughtered her ex-boyfriend, they must like pain inflicted by others.

Serendipity, I must have misunderstood your post. I couldn't see how you were relating defending Jodi to being a Masochist. With her it's much easier....any definition of crazy fits!

The jury questions are really throwing me?? What could they possibly be thinking asking if the roommates had alibis? If they have doubts about whether or not she did it after her attorney admitted it in opening statements, they should be declared incompetent. Guess that's not possible huh?

Goodmorning Elise - Not bragging, but I was onto this (and posted) when it was streaming live, hours before the Nancy Grace piece.
A shift has occured..I'm leaning towards jurors not connecting on a personal level with the prosecutor and/or lead investigator. The tapes of Jody in the interrogation room, oddly so, cast her in a fragile state...just the opposite effect of the lying cold blooded killer that predictable logic would dictate.

I'm surprised of the two week break, with the jurors be out for two weeks. Even Nancy Grace and the other attorneys on her panel, remarked that long breaks do not usually bode in favor of the prosecutions case. Obviously, I'm not postings as a novice in this field.

Stay in touch. I'm heading today to your old neighborhood, Donald Trump's Golf Course in PV.

As of today (1/18) new motions for a mistriall and apparently the Judge is taking these very seriously. Part of the long recess may pertain to this motion for dismassal/mnistrial. Prosecutor Martinez supposedly made disparing remarks about Hispanic last names, failed to promoptly supply defense with discovery material and other purported discrepencies. Also, the calling of a potential problematic female witness (Ms Alexander), over defense objections.

The defense should rethink these motions, ince it looks like they have a sympatheic jury. They may also be banking on in the event of mistrial, the case would be ripe for allowing Jody to plead to much lesser charge of Manslaughter, and Jody could be released in less than ten years, of course minus time served. Released in about six years.

By Ms. Alexander do you mean Travis's sister? She is very angry. The prosecutor did make disparaging remarks about Hispanics but he was criticizing the defense when doing so. The defense had mixed up the names of Flores and another person with a Hispanic name (escaped my mind what it was) and the prosecutor sarcastically said " I think you meant so-and-so....or maybe all Hispanics are the same to you." I thought it was funny :)
Tried golfing. Can't focus that long. Too easily distracted. Like a squirrel.

Goodmorning Elise

Correction - The current problematic witness for the prosecution is a Ms Lisa Andrews (Not Ms Alexander)...Lisa Andrews was another girl in Travis's stable, involved in the slashing tires drama. Def Atty Kirk Nurmi, in his motion claims he was denied access to her and was unable to vet her. He might call her as a wit, alhough she has been cast as prosecutorial witness. This defense team has been underestimated and has a lot up their sleeves. Atty Nurmi, the heavyset guy, is really connecting with this jury. Part of the dismissa/mistrial motions claims that both of the detectives have been caught in lies.

It is also interesting to note, Elise, that in the State of Arizona, the State (prosecution) must prove (burden of proof) that Jody did not act in self defense. This could be difficult for the State to overcome, due to the BDSM esque nature of the relationship. The prosecution is even backing off presenting evidence of Stalking, since Jody was always granted access. She was essentially on call by Travis, when he wanted to play with her.
Stalking is also an element of Felony Murder in Arizona, but the prosecutor is apparently not asserting Stalking as an element of this crime.

I doubt if she had specificaly planned to kill him that day or for that matter ever, notwithstanding the fact that she had pre-armed herself. This is not uncommon with battered women. More than likely Travis said or did something outrageous when he was cleaning up in the shower after a day of kinkiy sex. It went way beyond him notifying her he was taking another girl to Cancun. She already knew about the this. Must have been something real nasty and debasing. I do not like the Cliche of "She Snapped", but in this case it applies.

Travis now would want no harm come to Jody. This is immoral, charging her with first degree capital murder. This is a manslaughter case at best.

Dep DA Martinez is a decent man, he knows in his heart that Jody has been overcharged, albiet he has a winnable case on technical basis. He's taking his marching order from the elected DA and the upper inner circle. Perhaps although putting on a good face, something in his inner self relfects this before the jury. These factors also reflect in our good lead detective. She should have told the truth at the beginning, after obtaining legal counsel.

Not sure as to why this break is so long. Hell. this judege should have never went along with it. Is this a weak judge, like Judge Ito, in OJ, granting so many motioins, in chambers conferences, etc, etc. Many times the defense will ask for a little extra time over discovery issues, but two weeks is ridiculous. Defense attorneys like long long breaks. Also, there is almost 24/7 cable coverage delving into every abstract angle and rumor regarding this case.

At this moment Dr Dew has a special guest on his show, the former babysitter to Jody when when she was six years old. This episode is an example of an all time low ebb these clown shows have sunk to. The babysitter is telling a tale of a mean little Jody back then, beating up her brother. Now something about Wicca and energy fields. OK, here comes a posture expert, interpreting Jody's inner psyche. Hope like hell the jurors are not taking a sneak peak at any of this, but then again it's human nature to do so.

Wow, that Dinah Shore tourney sure attracts a reved up all girls crowd, lol...I have been in PS during one of them and it was weird, even by PS atandards. When are you comming into So-Cal? Let me know.

Juros are instructed not to view any news coverage,k but this two week break will even be more a a temption for them to tune into TO Nancy Grace. If it does come out that jurors have peaked at the enws, another motion for a mistrial.

La Guy-Something is seriously wrong with you.Every post you put on here you are turning it toward you- This is a death penalty murder trial about Jodi Arias slaughtering Travis Alexander- This is NOT ABOUT YOU! You probably don't even realise how sick it is to say,'A guy like ME could have handled her and nothing bad would have happened"- is your life so absolutly empty that you fixate on a depraved murderer because you like her looks?Sick. This woman is a very cunning dangerous person. After seeing what she did to her victim she has not one shred of beauty to her- at all. She would make Jack the Ripper proud.Any normal man- after seeing what she did to a person- would not want to touch her with a 10 foot pole.Or think about her in an intimate way-!yikes how creepy! She was NEVER Travis Alexanders property- NEVER, he wanted her COMPLETELY out of his life, he ended even the "friends with benefits' thing and this TOTAL rejection resulted in this psycho planning a very vile murder of which I know the jury will either euthanize her or lock this savage monster away forever. One of the pics she took prior to her slaughter of Travis was of the KY and how she taught her victim rectal sex.How did you miss this detail?Don't worry, the first book to come out about this horrific murder is called Picture Perfect- it will be out after the jury chooses how to dispose of this vile woman-
La guy is right. He and per guys could have handled jodi...as long as it didn't go down the path of Dom/sub. If travis didn't want her in his life he didn't have to answer the door. If she came in through the doggy door, then he could have called the police. Except 82000 messages jodi could have shown the police would have told a different story. Travis was a turd. I met a few like him in my youth. Ue people all the time. What do you think multi level marketing is?

Agree the lead detective said in the trial that she was not stalking. He said there were 82000 mails back and forth.
Let go of it people. People like travis don't respect others. He uses them. He is the one who was mentally ill to want to debase another person.

La Guy- Something is wrong with you.Do you realise what a foolish small man you sound like-I'm embarrassed for you.I'm in the big leagues....ugg... Glad you mentioned OJ because the throat slashing the victim suffered at the hands of this savage killer is almost exactly the same slaughter ripping Nicole Brown suffered at the hands of her killer. OJ was obsessed with and stalked incessantly his ex wife, Ms.Brown after she REJECTED and SPURNED him. Does this sound familiar? What in the heck makes you think Travis indoctrinated her in ANYTHING? They met in Las Vegas and for 5 minutes Travis was crazy about her, but very quickly he felt that EVERYTHING was WRONG about her.She NEVER was his live in GF. She was totally OBSESSED with him-do you know what happens to a person when they are in the throws of obsession?let alone a person whome already has very distubing psychopathic behavior? She lived, breathed, slept her victim,Travis. Now who do you think really would create a t-shirt that reads Travis Alexanders? This is something SHE did- SHE made that t-shirt because she WANTED him to WANT her!He was telling her it was OVER- finally even ending 'the friends with benefits thing'. All she had left was the sex-but even that was starting to back fire on her.Watch the trial- this is a woman about POWER.She was the aggressor sexually. She stalked him for a long time and planned his brutal murder when he REJECTED her. It was OVER.The title PICTURE PERFECT is a book on this crime that will be out after the jury disposes of this savage. I don't recall the authors name- one of many true crime writers covering this case. I saw 112 photos on the Huffington Post. I can not believe the condition she left him in- horrifying-
Sarah, unles should live in a big city you might not meet people like la guy. I have lived in ny, la, London and Sydney and there are a lot of wheeler dealers like him. Even the ugliest ones have eye candy on their arms. Travis wanted to be like la guy. However, he was also thriving in the Dom/sub facet f their relationship. It is another level of the arrogance that these successful guys display. If you don'tt like la guy then you probably would not have liked travis.

Great insight, Elise, enjoyed your take on it. Yes, he did perceive himself as the Player in his small world and he was on a role. Just saw a pic streaming of both of them together in formal, but awkward attire. He was in a perceived power suit, dark pinstripped with bow tie, along the lines of a barrister in court. It was ill fitting, cheap and he did not pull it off. What a smug arrogant pose. They both looked like co-conspirators.
Interesting that you picked up on Dr Drew's eyes glazing over and the cadence he fell into. I thought that I was the only one who picked upn it. Geraldo is also becoming a follower, although both are trying to mask it.
Oh, she no doubt was the seductress and they were both wired into the kink. He was a good looking confident white male. Perhaps even the Top Dog, as he went by. The well endowed stud who just natureally was dominate. Jody, the demure, but smoldering seductress.
My first encounters were with women who asked me to dominate them.
I went along with it, for the erotic sex and adventure. As to the text messages where he was calling her a slut, whore, etc. Reminds me of a few former GF's who liked to be verbaly debased and asked for more of it. Yes, even provided free maid service, everything I wanted, even washed my car. One even liked me to refer to her as my furniture;
how long did these relationships go on for, for you? Interesting, you use the word barrister. You aren't American.

Most were less than one year. One was five years, but did not start dom/sub, but evolved into. Women have told me that I'm a natural Dom in the bedroom and wanted more of it. I started liking it and delved into the "scene" as they call it. It was more of an erotic game for me. So, Sydney Girl, your post begs the question. Have you partaken in this erotic mind expanding pleasure with a guy.

As to my use of the term Barrister. I'm American, with an International background and it should be obvious that I'm not a novice in this area.

Enjoying your posts, definately raising the bar in the overall discussion of this fascinating cast of characters, human nature/juris prudence and more.
