Mitt Romney not only embarrassed his own party but he pretty much embarrassed the U.S. when he made some downright out-of-touch comments regarding education. It appears that the presidential hopeful isn't really as interested in beating Obama in 2012 as he pretends.

Mitt Romney: "I came into office and talked to people and said,'What can we do to improve our schools?' And a number of folks said well we need smaller classroom sizes, that'll make the biggest difference. So I gathered information, across our state. We had 351 cities and towns. I said let's compare the average classroom size from each school district with the performance of our students. Because we test our kids and we'll see if there's a relationship. And there was not. As a matter of fact, the school district with the smallest classrooms, Cambridge, had students performing at the bottom 10 percent. So just getting smaller classrooms didn't seem to be the key."

"So it's not the classroom size that's driving the success of those school systems," Romney concluded. But another teacher on the panel contested Romney's statements, citing a different report.

"There was a study done by the University of Tennessee, a definitive study about class size and what they said was that in first through third grade, if the class size is under 18 those kids stay ahead of everybody else all the way through school, including classes where you might have 25 in the class and co-teachers. Those students lose their gains after a couple years. If you have small classes in those primary years, those most important years, that’s what makes the difference."

20,000 APPLY FOR 877 JOBS AT AUTO PLANT

It should not come as a surprise with unemployment over 8% that good paying jobs in manufacturing are harder than ever to land.
At the Hyundai plant in Montgomery, Alabama more than 20,000 people have applied for one of the 877 job openings.

The surge of people applying may seem unusual, but it's not.

Take a look:

• Last summer Ford had more than 18,000 people apply for one of 1,800 jobs at the retooled Louisville plant. That plant will open and start building the Edge SUV in mid-June.
• In 2011, more than 41,000 applied for one of the 1,300 positions at the new Toyota plant in Tupelo, Mississippi.

• In 2009, more than 65,000 applied for one of the 2,700 jobs at the new Volkswagen plant in Chattanooga, TN. Since opening, that plant has added shifts and is currently hiring another 820 workers.
There's no doubt the recession and the fact so many Americans are still out of work was the primary factor driving the waves of people applying for jobs at auto plants.

Another huge factor is the type of jobs being offered. Good pay and benefits with solid companies in an industry set for steady growth over the next 3-5 years. Those jobs are hard to find in blue-collar America.

Sportscaster, Mark Madden, said on a local radio station in Pennsylvania that two reporters are investigating Sandusky’s Second Mile Foundation “pimping out young boys to rich donors.”

With all the similarity to the Franklin Cover-up case, we must not allow any cover-up at Penn State. Evil flourishes when good men do nothing.
