It truly Sadden and sickens me to be imprisoned in a free country with a hand full of violent predators that target the average working class that struggled from day to day to feed there families.. It's scary going to work.. its scary coming home from work! Can't say if it's truly the economy escalating crime or it's just a symptom from the cancers that already plaguing the impoverished communities in the inner cities.. Education is a factor but the real problem is.. Nobody got the Will, Care and the Desire to make no more and the music is telling our babies it's all right to be in this mind set. RIP Jose..

First of all let’s get a few minor details straight. If this man’s MURDER is going to be a news story then get the facts completely accurate! He did not come to Philadelphia in 2001 so I do not know what ‘FAMILY’ was spoken to. Second, for anyone turning this into a political OR religious thing just STFU and keep your opinions to yourself. Third, Jose was half black and half Puerto Rican so anyone commenting on ‘blacks’ in this article you are indirectly insulting his memory. Finally, Jose did have a legal carry permit but never was able to save enough to buy a gun because of his dedication to his son.

Now, Jose was a once in a lifetime friend/brother/’adopted’ son. Jose was the type of man that no matter how his life was going would reply with ‘eh, I’m good, could be better’ and then no more than 1 minute later have everyone smiling and laughing. With Jose the smiles and laughter was never in short supply. I love him more than any words could ever describe as does the rest of his true family… to include Craig. To say this man made peoples’ lives better is an understatement. Jose didn’t have the ideal life or upbringing. But despite all his adversities this man was the most honorable, most loving and cordial person I have ever met. He was a very hard worker with such a strong sense of ‘do the right thing’. Living in the environment that he did and knowing some of the people he did, he could have easily become involved with illegal ways of making a LOT of money. NEVER once did that thought ever even enter his mind. Instead he would grind the hours and try to scrape every dollar he could for his rent, bills and most importantly his son.

The most resounding statement that continues to repeat over and over in my mind was ‘I want to be there for my son as much as possible in his life because my father was never there for me.’ Jose truly loved his son and made it a point to always try to do his best for ‘lil buddy’ and to be the shining role model that so many young children are missing in this city. Jose was the friend/brother that I wanted to have well into our 90’s. Every mother’s day and father’s day there would be a phone call to his ‘adopted’ parents, regardless of how hectic his day was going. What is most difficult is that I hope Jose knows the immeasurable love I have for him along with the love of many others that this amazing person left behind. Also, the fact that every time we saw each other I would say ‘You need to get out of here NOW! Living around so many scumbags is not good dude.’ echoes with even more urgency, but it’s too late.

It’s no secret that north Philly has the highest murder and violent crime rates by far. It’s no secret that north Philly has the highest rate of spineless and cowardly scumbags who disregard common human decency and opt for a more ‘gimme dat’ attitude. Because of this Jose will never be able to teach his son how to drive a manual, never get to congratulate his son on his report card, never teach him how to catch a baseball or any of the infinite things a TRUE father like Jose WOULD HAVE done.

I have countless stories about Jose from the past 7 and a half years that I was blessed to have known him, all of which have a silver lining. Anyone reading this would have benefitted from knowing this man, there is just so much to love about him, even still. The immense pain I feel right now is all worth it to have known him because I still feel him with me. I will continue to carry his memory with me until it’s my turn to depart and hopefully someday I’ll be reunited with him to resume all the fun times I will be missing. Until that day I’ll have to settle for “whatchu doing? Where we going?” and look forward to the day when this spineless, scrawny, cowardly scumbag is arrested and confined until he forgets there are no guns in prison. Hopefully then true justice will be served and the circle will be complete.

Get real, cuz. Jose was a punk and he got what he deserved. Let him rot in hell!!!
As I read LOVED HERO and then read your post, its obviouse that you are a piece of shit. If he was a punk, no one would have taken the time to say such kind things about him. Yet your post seems to suggest you did not like him, you were jealous of him, or you are just a scumbag, may I suggest you eat a dick and die. So we could say the same thing on this thread. Hose B was a cocksucking mariconcito que cojia por el culo. In other words STFU you crack head homo.
