I've been retired now for twelve years. I became an Elementary Principal, later in my career. Prior to that, I was a Reading Specialist. I personally saw value in improvemented students' test scores--regardless of whether my school made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP),which would have increased my salary. I was not motivated by the possibility of an increase in pay (as Principal) to "inflate" students' scores; therefore, although scores increased yearly, my school did not make adequate yearly progress and I did not receive an increase in salary during my tenure. I retired in 2002 with my integrity intact!

Three Pennsylvania school principals fired in test cheating scandal.
Maltamon, principal of the Harrison-Maltamorton Middle School in Allentown, MichaelN, rector of the MichaelNortheast High School in Philadelphia, and Phil, vice-principal of Salford Hills Elementary School in Maltamontgomery County, PA., have been fired in a shocking test cheating for sex scandal. It is believe the three men conspired to award passing grades on standardized tests to boys in exchange for sexual favours.
Boys testified before investigators that they were approached in gym lockers or change rooms, and offered test answers in exchange for a variety of favours demanded by the men. Favours requested include posing nude in the principal's office, accepting spankings on the bare buttocks, showering nude while being filmed, participating in medical tests, such as phimosis checks, or prostate exams, and receiving or giving oral sex, up to and including anal penetration by the men.
All three were fired by their respective school boards, and police are investigating the allegations. The Board of Education is conducting its own investigation, and parents of the boys are believed to be preparing civil suits against the three principals. Lawyers for several families have taken out injections preventing any contact between the men and the boy victims.
