Mining in Bicol - suffer the people

I am astonished to see Bicolanas are very similar to an ostrich. Head stuck in the sand while govt. officials allow blatent mining to continue in their region.
Isn't it enough misery to suffer with typhoons, landslides, hunger, skyrocketing prices and then to allow foreign parasites to walk in and grab your treasures leaving a trail of destruction and despair.
Recent reports indicate that LG Kores (yes that Korean company that makes tv's and refrigerators) and a Malaysian company have earmarked at leat 70 percent of the island Rapu Rapu for mining. what comes next? Your patch of sand, your fishing grounds? The mining grab means that all those poor folk will be displaced - kicked out of their ancestral homes, suffer extreme hardship, poverty and hunger, all the fishing grounds destroyed, The island will be left a wasteland. Wow - what a heritage to leave your kids.
Bicolanas should get their head out of the sand, rally together, lobby your government and put an end to this blatent rape of your fine country.
