As I read the responses to this sad story I realize I am just as shocked and in fact sickened by most of the responses!! Did we read the same story? What is wrong with you people making jokes when the story is about a child being killed by a d--n pet snake!!!!!!!

What kind of ass...e has a snake/pet in the household capable of killing their child????

Cats when they get teed off they pee on your pillow or clothes. Dogs (pitbulls NOT included) whine and act like puppies...

Snakes??!! Just like Sharks-they eat, sleep, and make more baby snakes.

Seriously, a small child cannot behave as an adult with such large snakes, nor should they ever be encouraged to try because the snakes ALWAYS wrap around a part of the body of the person who is grasping them. Some popular wildlife books dating from the 1950s taught that seizing a snake by the back of the head is the best way to immobilize and control one (ONE) but the technique is only effective with small snakes -- the big ones react immediately to constrict the grabber. The household telephone records should be checked to determine if the mother was being harassed about the snake such that her reaction time was affected when the snake decided to escape/leave 'its' humans. The creatures do respond to logic, believe it or not, of common memories. [in Stuart, FL]

yikes, my sister had one of these snakes and it was huge. She allowed it to roam the apartment she shared with my brother.

He saved up and moved out.

That poor little child. What stupid parents. Was the live in boyfriend her father? I read yesterday that charges would be filed against the live in boyfriend, but what about the mother?!?!

They should both be charged . The mother was probally so excited about her new boyfriend that she didn't have time to pay attention to the child , or to even check in on the child every so often .
