accidental pet

I own a snake (I know all you rat lovers immediately hate me) and recently sent my husband to the pet store for "food" which was supposed to be 2 small feeder mice. He came home with 2 medium rats. The snake ate one (again, I'm sorry) but the 2nd was too large. We thought we'd just let him go and it'd be fine. A few days later he was waiting for us on the porch. He hung around the porch for a few days letting us pick him up and feed him. He bit us each a few times during this period. He bit hard enough to draw blood each time. I then started doing research and realized the little guy would not survive so I gave in and bought him a cage with all the accessories. We let him out daily to roam, climb, and run inside but he is still biting us and drawing blood. He has been inside for over 2weeks now. We are both scared of him now. I literally won't go in the room with him without socks, pants, long-sleeved shirt, and gloves but he still manages to draw blood through the fabric. I cannot form a bond with something I am scared of. I am considering getting him a companion (another male) but am afraid I'll then have 2rats I cannot handle. I realize earning trust takes time but I don't see how it will be possible in our current situation. Please, someone, give me some advice! How can I make little JoJo a part of the family?

Some advice do try and feed him to your sneak and he won't have trust issues. You make me sick tring to feed a live rat to you sneak. I have both had pet sneaks and pet rats. I would never feed a sneak live food. I know it's the circle of live but we aren't in the wild. Oh yah also it is illegal to feed sell or buy live feed in the uk. I hope you fall asleep and the rat escapes and chews out you eyes. Also rats have great sence of smell so the fact to you keep sneaks in the same house will have you rat constantly on edge. Make a choice prey or predictor.
