black tail turning white ????

I have two ~7 month old girls. A few days ago, we noticed that the tail of one of our girls is turning from dark brown to white. It is just the scales that are lighter, there are still dark hairs over the white scales. Tonight, we noticed that the tail might be a little bit rougher than it used to be.
This change does not seem to bother her at all (i.e. it doesn't appear to be tender or painfull). I tried washing the tail, but no change. Meanwhile, our other girl's tail is still the same shade of pink that it has always been.
Has anyone seen this happen before? Do you think it is a sign of some sort of infection? Perhaps diet related? Time for a trip to the vet???
Thanks to anyone that can offer advice.

It isn't an infection. It is just because she is just getting older it will happen to your other rat to eventily.
