I need some help. We got a few rats after my daughter's therapist suggested pet therapy. Man, these things are awesome!

We have four, the spice girls : ginger, nutmeg, saffron and pepper.

Ginger has had blood in her urine and we did the vet thing and the antibiotics 2X but I think its a tumor instead. She acts 100% normal and my question about her is, could she be in pain and when do I know to put her down. I am sick to my stomach thinking she may be suffering and I can't find any info online about what I should do next.:(

Nutmeg is my favorite one and she was really sick a few weeks ago for a day, just acted all lethargic, etc. Then as soon as we noticed her head tilt, I researched her and found out about ear infections, so back to the vet. She is on day 8 of antibiotics. Her head tilt is still there and still bad. Her balance is off big time. This leaves me really sad b/c her favorite thing in the world is the exercise ball and she can't do that.:( Will her head tilt and balance get better? What should I do if it doesn't? When do I know when to put these girls down and if they are in misery :(

help!

Keep going to an expirienced vet and separate them! The other 2 could get sick so keep them in 3 separate cages! Cage #1: for the rat with blood coming in urine. Cage #2: the rat with the ear infection. Just keep her separate cuz u dont know 4 sure if it's just a ear infection. I'd its not it could be contagious. Cage #3: for the 2 healthy rats

Interesting to know about rat therapy. I recently got the rat extermination service done. My children often got afraid when they used to see rats at home.

My vet told me that the rats tears are red, so I'm guessing that what was coming out of the nose could be a similar fluid.

We just got another baby rat from a local pet store yesterday. When we got her she was in a cage with around 10 other rats. I never noticed any signs of her scratching/sneezing.
Now we have her home she doesn't do it a lot maybe a few times every half hour but she seems very itchy as well. I'm not sure if this is because the conditions we got her from were not exactly great! Huddled together with other rats in a heap of urine, she stank at first but now she's home she doesn't smell at all and cleaned herself off. She has a fantastic nature and we have taken to her so quickly, I'm just pretty worried as she's so young and just had a rat die due to getting stuck in a small space and having a heart attack:(. Should I give it another day or so and see how she is or is this something I should get seen to ASAP?

Cheers

My albino female rat has a growth coming out her cheek. Its about the size of a 10p and feels like a water balloon. When it burst it was loads of blood that came out and she was left with a saggy piece of skin. It has now filled back up only this time it feels 'jelly' like. Its not causing her pain as she's not showing any signs of being in pain but she's in alot of discomfort and has started grabbing it with her teeth and putting it in her mouth so she can move around more easily. Is this normal in albino rats? I hope someone can shed light on this as its slowing her down during playtime with her sister (she isn't albino and doesn't have any health problems). Any advice would b much appreciated.
