I have a female white mouse named Milo who is a little over a year old. I went to check on her this morning and found her to be swollen and her pink eyes are now mostly white. She won't eat or drink anything, even her favorite treats. All the vet offices are closed today! She's very cold and I have her on a towel on top of a heating pad to keep her warm, not hot. The swelling has gone down and she looks skinny everywhere except her face.

well, what type of food do you give her, does she have any room mates, and what type of bedding do you use?

thanks, I use carefresh pet bedding which is not made of wood. I give her fresh vegetables occasionally and a diet of nuts and seeds for mice from a pet store. My other mouse, Mango, who is also a female is perfectly fine. They are from the same litter. Any advice?

this is what i found...........It is very possible she could have a fast growing tumor, or a virus which has caused the eye to ulcerate. Sometimes, certain viruses can cause ulcerations of the cornea, which can lead to blindness. They can be extremely painful, as can a tumor.

I would recommend getting her in to see a vet as soon as you can so they can determine if she has an injury, tumor, or something else going on. I hope this helps, and i will try to help even more if i can

thank you so much for your helpful advice.
I'm not sure what the bedding is made of, it's the kind they use at the pet stores. Right now I have her on a heating pad on low to keep her warm. Her eyes are completely glazed over white. She's barely moving and when she breathes her body makes a clicking sound. I had a mouse before that died from a collapsed lung that made the clicking sound so I'm assuming thats what it is :( I'm so upset. I wish there was something I could do to help her. She is progressively worsening. Right now I'm just trying to keep her comfortable. She attempts to drink water but I don't know if she actually drinks any.

She has shown improvement today. She has been eating yogurt chips and granola and a cheese curl and has been drinking water often. She was active today more towards the evening and even ran on her wheel a couple times. I'm very surprised she had the energy to do that. She has been walking around her cage sniffing and wandering around. I called numerous veterinarians today but none of them take small animals. A co-worker of mine suggested a place out where she lives that works with exotics. I'm hoping I can afford the vet bill because I want her to get better and I want to do everything I can to help her. I'm going to see how she is tomorrow and if there's no improvement I'll call and make an appointment to get her checked out. I hope she just has a virus or something and she's not dying :(

She's still about the same today, I'm taking her to the vet tomorrow to see whats causing all of this. She ran on her wheel more today than yesterday however she still isn't eating her regular food. Her eyes aren't getting much better. I hope the vet can help her!

Awful news :'( Milo died tonight. She started having seizures about 2 hours ago and they wouldn't stop. I miss her so much :( I'm glad that she is out of pain and in a better place but I feel so bad that she had to go through that; it had to be so scary and painful :'( Thank you for all your advice and well wishes
