My dog is very sick and has been throwing up for a week now, she has not eaten in 4 days, drinks little water and has not passed any stools or gone to the bathroom at all. She is very weak and sleeps all the time, shivers and her nose is dry and rough. Today, my mother brought her to the vet and they referred her to the emergency hospital for animals.

Now they want to do surgery on her because the sonogram came up negative and they have to open her up to see whats wrong...

We dont have 2,500 to pay to have this happen.. What do we do?? Does anyone know what may be wrong.

They have financing at some places and I would call to see if they have payment options. If not the vets don't give a rats ass...believe me I know...I didn't have 4000 grand for treatment for my dog after a severe case of pneumonia so he had to be put to sleep...

Bella, How is your dog? I have a couple sites I could send the address if you're still needing help. What kind of a diet do you have her on and how old is she? What kind of dog?

She is much better my mother and father had to pay 1,300 for emergency surgery which was a lot better than the stupid emergency hospital that was only trying to make money and trying to charge a minimum of 2500 and then some for more x-rays and all types of stuff... so total would have been around 6000. Crooks.. Bad experience with the emergency vet on sunrise highway in Islip.. Bad people. They donít care much for the animal. only the money.

She is a Jack Russell. Also, she likes to eat her toys, so the doctor found a piece of her squeaky alligator stuck in her intestines... it was nasty.. but she no longer gets toys anymore. Maybe she'll learn. Thanks for asking.. she is back to her normal self again! God bless!

Just like children, dogs should be supervised when playing with toys. When you can't watch them play with them they should be taken away. I have a toy basket for my dog. When I can watch her play I bring the basket out and let her have a go at it. When I can't watch her play it goes back in the closet.

Wow, hopefully you guys know each other and that's a joke...if not I don't see why asking your parents for money to help your sick dog is a problem...if my dog was sick and I couldn't afford it I would ask...

Elvis Lover's daughter:
Hi. Elvis Lover is my mom's screen name...she is new to topix. we'd like to help and give some advice, Elvis is OUR dog and we too have felt the sting of a lost and/or sick pet ( Elvis is neither though) So here she is!

Elvis Lover: I was sad to hear about your dog I cant imagine that situation, but I do know that when we are sick or are facing something that is out of our control we pray. God made animals as well as people and there is no reason why we can't pray for them as well. If they were not important to HIM,HE would not have created them. You could also just pray that the Lord would open up doors of opportunities or resources for you to get help.
there are places like vet schools and things. You might even consider this Topix site a blessing. Look how many people were willing to help. I will pray for you and your dog.

Elvis Lover's Daughter:
My mother and I WILL pray for you! My dog Elvis's brother, Hause,( We called him Hachie for fun)
developed parvo and passed away at the veteranarian's office...I cried forever, but soon I eased myself into exceptance by thanking God that I still had Elvis. I now protect him as if he were my own child. I know every one who owns and loves a pet, loves them in a way that only their heart can describe. I hope you've read this...
