I find it interesting that many of the animals determined to NOT be pets can be obtained at pet stores (rabbits, reptiles, chinchillas, hedgehogs). I wonder if all of these stores will now be shut down, as surely NOBODY will be allowed to own them should a neighbor be upset with them. I'm curious why these opposing neighbors are so scared of such innocent indoor animals...
The opposing neighbors were concerned with the horses getting out on numerous occasions, scaring them and their children. One one occasion, the horses escaped, to be retrieved within minutes. They merely went next door to eat grass from his yard, and that neighbor didn't even care. The other neighbors were so scared, they didn't flee to their homes, they all gathered in a group outside to watch the rescue. Where were all the scared people that night? On another occasion, a gate was opened by an unknown person, causing them to escape (the gates CANNOT be opened by the animals due to how they are secured). On a third occasion, the horses in question were not even hers, they were from another neighbor. What bothers me the most is 2 of her goats becoming sick and passing away within days of each other. Only weeks later, the son of a neighbor who has a bordering property tells his friends that his dad and uncle poisoned them. What a way to be brought up. Let's not forget how her neighbors videotape and photograph private swimming parties, gatherings, and birthday parties at her home, and then claim she is conducting business. To me it seems she has some peepers in the neighborhood. This all comes down to her neighbors playing dirty, some causing the problems they are addressing. It's also a shame that a neighbor's child knows what his family did to some of the animals, but still try to maintain their good standing in the community. |

And they call this a FREE country...What a freaking Joke!

Well this is just sad! After reading the OP, I am appalled. She should be allowed to have as many animals as she wants, If hedgehogs aren't hard to take care of and if they aren't expensive, I want one!!=( Poor lady!

This woman's animals weren't hurting anyone, and the few times something got out was to, literally, find the greener grass on the other side of the fence. Way to go nosy, fearful, wimpy neighbors! Way to support trampling on this woman's pets. There were no violations, so you took it upon yourselves to throw the animals out into the cold and turn this woman's life upside down. Did you every hear of helping someone? Good luck, lady. I hope you win your appeal!

Every day the citizens of Hanover disappoint me. I moved here from York to get away from the physical crimes of shootings and beating and rapes thinking that Hanover is a better place to raise my family. Sure the physical attacks on people are alot lower than York but the people here are such backstabbers, AKA liars and heartless people!(However I have come across a few good people here) This lady is trying to do good for the community. Something that places like York and Baltimore don't see very much. I can understand neighbors being afraid or irritated because of the horses getting out and destroying property or being spooked and running someone down if they were to run. It's understandable for neighbors to complain about something like that. But a friggin hedgehog?? A one legged goose?? How is any of this hurting anyone? If she is on a farm, she should have the right to have what animal she wants. How about limiting how many outside animals she has? Why take away all of her inside animals? Were they being abused? Was the house extremely nasty and smelly? From what I see, the neighbors need to just shut up and mind their own business and let this woman live her life. I hope she appeals. I hope she wins. And if what some of the other ppl on this forum stated is true that there are witnesses to her goats being poisened and witnesses to these horrible neighbors video taping private parties on her residence (which is 100% ILLEGAL might I remind you), I hope she sues the crap out of these neighbors. To this lady, keep fighting this. Don't give in to these neighbors. You are the kind of person that brings hope and joy into peoples lives. If you decide to move, I hope someone else just like you moves in and puts these neighbors through hell all over again.

I hope if she ever moves out of her place, this neighborhood gets the worse neighbor ever! Poisoning animals, letting animals out of a secured area to what possible endanger a neighborhood child???? Seriously what happened to nice neighbors. Dictatorhip will fix everything.

Some people have nothing better to do than create problems for others and tear people down and add to the negative energy of this world. When the karma bus pulls up in front of their homes one day I hope they remember how they acted in this situation. That includes the judge. Shameful.

I live in a development, and that is my choice, but that doesn't mean I want to live next to a farm!!! Is she wants a farm, then move out in the middle of no where and have all the animals!!! That's what farmers do!!!
|
||||
The farm was there before the development, you should be the one moving elsewhere. This used to be the middle of nowhere, but people decided to put developments in the middle of the farmers fields! It's not her fault, its yours for complaining about it. |

An appeal is definitely worthwhile to establish the meaning of the restriction of "household animals". Neighbors, township officials (and trial judges to a lesser extent) are routinely arbitrary in their attempts to mind your business. Consider the "Dog Ladies" in Springettsbury who prevailed in keeping their well-controlled dogs, but only after spending over $23,000 in legal fees to reverse the Township and York County bench in the Commonwealth Court. Where do they go to get their money back, which they wouldn't have had to spend were it not for obnoxious neighbors, devious zoning boards and clueless judges?

Ten acres is a farm. Do you expect it to be all mowed and kept as a park for you and your finicky neighbors? I |
||||
It is people like you who make it miserable. Grow up or move back to the city. |

SO ITS OK TO KEEP A HORSE BUT SOMEHOW A DONKEY OR LLAMA ISN'T??? WHAT A COMPELTE CROCK!
this is a disgrace to the residents ande the county. 5 dogs cr@ppingin a 25x50' backyard smells a heck of a lot worse than 10 horses on 10 acres. as for turnignthis into a therapy farm - this woman deserves commendations , not slaps. we need more like her. why on earth don't you guys get together and luanch the biggest petition your area and county has ever seen, contact hte media, and help this very commendable person fight for her rights with support????? |
||||
someone held a shotgun to your head and forced you to buy next to a farm, did they? |
||||
|
Although I am not a huge animal person, per se...I don't agree with a bunch of ignorant, nosy, trouble makers causing such grief for this lady. Whether or not she was intending to turn the farm into something therapudic or not, on 10 acres, she should be allowed to keep whatever animals she wants. Provided she can take care of, and feed them all. And that they aren't a nuisance. Maybe she can move to the real country and have whatever her little heart desires...lots of beautiful area in rural Gettysburg. And we wouldn't mind a bit! Sounds like the neighbors are jealous because they have to travel to the toilet (York) for their jobs to support their families to live in cookie-cutter hovels, instead of being able to enjoy life and help animals and people like this lady does. Appeal the decision, and don't move anything until they force you too!!! You go Girl!!!!

GRE...Get a life, move back to the city, and sit by the door with a gun waiting for someone to break into your apartment, rape and rob you. Then sit back and bitch about a few animals. You're an absolute moron. You're the reason people like their pets more than actual people!
|

I personally don't think she should be made to get rid of any of her animals, but what doesn't make sense is, if the horses are the animals that are scaring the neighborhood children, why is she allowed to keep them?

What a dang shame!
All the lady is trying to do is help unwanted animals. If she isn’t hurting anyone else and is taking good care of the animals, then leave her alone. We in Pa. have bigger fish to fry. Namely our puppy mills and the Amish that run them. Why is it that people want to shut down a good thing but keep open a puppy mill?$$$$$ that’s why! I’ve been by the area in question and it looks clean, well kept and the animals look fine. As for the “escapes” animals do this all the time. How many of those “neighbor” have had the dog/cat “escape” over the years. I can tell you I’d be more afraid of a dog biting me than a horse! I understand that some people just have to be A**H*L*S, it’s in the genes. Let the lady help homeless animals! Just come out and check that their being taken care off properly. As for the “concerned” neighbors, keep an eye on your kids. I’m sick of seeing them on the road playing. Their more of a hazard than anything else. Signed A local tax paying citizen who is tired of people NOT watching their children! |
