I adore cats!!!

Had two cats (no idea what breed though) the one had long fur, and was very affectionate (IF you ever get to hold her). The other was white with black stripes. Both cats had green eyes. I think the first mentioned cat was a tortoiseshell cross, bought her from a pet shop.

The one got run over by a car and the other was poisoned. But we now have a ginger mix kitten (he is approximately 5 months old now) and he is just super adorable and he chose me. Found him at work. Took him to my office, gave him food and water, and after about a week, he came to my office all by himself.

We grew very close, and I took him home. After bathing him about 3 times, I managed to get rid of the ticks and fleas and I then put a bell collar on him. He now shares the house with 4 dogs and a parrot. He couldn't be happier, and purrs whenever someone touches him, even the ones who aren't as fond of cats. Having him neutered soon, as I don't want him to experience the same fate as with the other two cats :-(

Oh, forgot to mention, the first two cats were female, and even though they were both spayed, they didn't stay home...

So I'm hoping that the male cat won't go looking for 'love'...But he is indoors most of the time

TrilbyKat and other cat lovers.Have you read the devious book for Cats? by Fluffy and Bonkers? And, the other i bought at Barnes and Knobles it is called,How to live with a Neurotic Cat,by Stephen Baker.
Seeings as it is snowing again here in Montana, guess this snow has nowhere else to go..
Just thought you might want to check these books out.The Neurotic Cat book is mine all over the place plus fourteen.
I am hoping to get on with a Vet tech here and still awaiting my information to go.Take care out there everyone cyl Addy
I haven't read that book yet - even though I bought it for my grandma. I'll have to borrow it. The Neurotic Cat one sounds good, too. There was a book I read as a kid called "How To Live With A Calculating Cat" and it was one of my favorites! Did the Vet Tech thing work out okay?

:)

Hi to everyone else here, too! White Fire - glad your kitty recovered. That sounded very frightening. blue_bear - your ginger kitty sounds adorable. Male neutered kitties can become real homebodies. I know mine is!

I've an itty-bitty laying across my lap as I post. She was brought over by a panicking neighbor. Too bad for the neighbor. This kitten is lovely....

Good to see this back up here again. Does anyone here use holistic meds for their babies? I have two- one with CRF and one with asthma and both have been taking holistic meds and have been both doing GREAT!! I never thought I would stray from vets and their drugs, but now am a firm believer!
Holistics seem SO much cheaper and I feel safer giving them their meds knowing what actually is in them...
Now I have to get them off of all by-product foods. Anyone know of any good dry foods that don't contain by-products (that don't cost an arm and a leg)??

I'm still here GF, although seldom. After living in one place for over 35 years we've concluded that we have to move. Thank God for good friends, I was "given" a street of dreams home on 1.25 acres in exchange for my house. Shirley and I are very excited about this move, it's the right thing for us.

Catch you guys later. MP

Hi Lizard,

I found that Costco has decent prices on their large bags of premium food - they even carry organic.

Congrats on your new home, MP :)
And your new itty-bitty kitty, Hemp :)

Have a great week everyone!

Why, thank you. And the information about Costco is helpful. Goodness knows I need all the help I can get with all the mouths to feed. I must check into that.

Good weekend to you, too.

I love cats! I have had three tortoise shell long hair calico. She is my 3rd calico. My 1st was about 8 years old, I named her Satin because she was so soft. After she died, I got a baby calico I named her Lacey and I had her for 16 years. My baby I have today is named Silkey (she has a middle name as well as a last name!) She is going on 3, and she is the silliest cat I have ever had! She purrs and meows at the same time loud. If I put my had to her mouth and tell her that mommy is dirty, and to give me a bath, she will lick my hand until she feels that it is clean! She wont do that to anyone else but me. I have a album of pictures of just her hiding, sleeping, or playing in the weirdest places. She will jump from the floor straight up to the top of the door, and walk up and down, back and forth to make the door move. She hides under the bed so where the sheet is in front of her so if anyone walks by, she will pounce the foot. I love her so much, on her bday my kids and I had her a party with tuna cupcakes with a candle, even bought her toys!

My baby is a completely black cat that I found when she wasn't even weaned. I took care of her and now she is Mommy's girl. I named her Bella because I think she sooooooo beautiful. She has this funny, cute little thing she does. Since she was a little bitty thing she would hop on top of me when I was under this certain blanket I sleep with. She still does this. She will hop up there and suck on the cover. She only does this when I have the cover on me. I think it has something to do with my scent and body heat. Anyway, all night long I hear this: puurrrr, suck , suck, suck, purrrr, suck, suck, purrrr. LOL! I think it is so soothing, though. I love her little noises. When she meows she sounds like she is saying MEEeeee! She loves the Everpet brand of cat food and when I get a can out she comes running. She has been raised with two chihuahua puppies that were born around the time I found her and she plays with them like she is one of them. It is so cute. Sometimes, she will hide behind the chair in the morning and wait for the dogs to wake and come through the house one by one...then she will jump out and attack them to wrestle and play with them. I love it! I love my baby!

I absolutely love completely black cats, they are beautiful! I was going to get one because my best friend has a black cat and she named it Neo. So I was gonna name mine Trinity but I guess I am just addicted to calico's, I mean I have had 3 calico's for over 25 years all named after soft fabric and or cloth! One of my favorite sounds is hearing a cat purr, it is very stress relieving. I recently bought a picture frame from Northtown Drugs where the licence bureau is at, it is silver and has little cat paw prints on it and the word Meow! They have a lot of cool things to show everyone that your pet is a part of your family!! My husband says that me and my Silkey have a special bond, because if I am ever upset or stressed she is on me cuddling and giving me a bath! I think cats are mysterious, they make their owners work for their love whereas dogs just love anyone that feeds it; and they chase after cars...I would like to know what they are going to do with the car if they ever catch it?!? I only like one dog, he is a german shepherd bomb dog in Oklahoma. He is so smart, he can play but in the blink of an eye is ready to protect his territory and people in his family. He is trained to kill if commanded to but thats just his job. If he were my dog, I would never be afraid of anything. I wouldnt even lock my doors. But he has nipped me a few times, not hard but just to show me who was in charge. I just got to close to my uncle and that is Hero's job to protect my uncle. Its actually really cool to learn about the training and stuff. But I still am loyal to cats, like in Egypt, I think they are sacred!!

I know! and sometimes my cat just looks up into the air and just stares at nothing for a long time, and I believe cats can sense angels or spirits. Its wierd though cause every time a black cat crosses my path, I have really unusually good luck!
