I was dumb enough to be scammed into puttin g$400 toward a little puppy supposedly from an american working in cameroon who just got transfered to work for the World Health Organization. They convinced me to purchase the puppy for $120 (dumb on my part) and promised she would come with all of her papers and shots. Once she supposedly was booked for flight I recieved and itinerary and shortly after I got an email for AKC in Cameroon stating that her travel insurance expired and I would have to pay $763.00 I didn't have the money so the person name Jarrod Scragg who was "selling" me the puppy said I could pay $140 and he would pay the rest of the fully refundable fee. I then got another email the next day stating that my puppy was in France and due to sever weather conditions in the US would not be permitted to travel in the crate that she was originally shipped in so I would have to pay $422 fully refundable to rent the necessary thermal electronic crate. I payed $140 and Jarrod supposedly payed the rest. Of which I would return to him when I got her in the US. I called Air France the next day when I did not recieve her and they stated that their have been many scams related to puppy shipments from cameroon. I replyed to all of the ppl who had been emailing me and told them that I new they were lying. They then forwarded me and email from Pet Smart in Atlanta and stated that my puppy had made it to the US but was now being quarantened for a few days due to the bird flue... I looked this up on line and this happened in atlanta in 2007... I felt quite dumb...and figured I would share the situation with ppl to hopefully help someone else avoid being as DUMB as I was.

Dumb is an understatement. How ignorant can you be? It was obvious from the very beginning it was a scam. Rule #1....don't buy animals from idiots that promise to "ship" the animal to you! Rule your research!!!!! Rule #3...if you don't have sence enough to figure out a scam, stay off the internet and have your parents explain it to you. I'm sure they raised you better than that but obviously you weren't listening!!!!!!!

Listen.. don't yell at her, she admitted she did something dumb, good grief. She posted it so others wouldn't do the same, so that when they did their research they would see her silly mistake. Guess what miss Yolanda, you aren't perfect either. You might be able to tell a scam but I am sure you have made silly mistakes in your lifetime. Give her a break.

Yolanda - Don't be so harsh. Amy won't be the first or last person to be scammed by those 'Cameroon' idiots. That's why there are sites like this to warn others of these types of scams. It's idiots like you who will cause other to think twice about warning others. Who wants to post a warning, if some bonehead decides to blame the poster for their mistake?

For most scam to work "GREED" has to be involved. There is nothing "FREE" in life.

Hi Amy,
I live in Wisconsin and the EXACT same thing happened to me when trying to purchase a yorkie puppy.I was trying to get her from a woman who lives in Cameroon. I feel dumb, and I just don't know how those people can be so heartless. I was heart broken, and out over $400. They were trying to get me to pay another $550, but that's when I learned it was a scam. Did you take any legal actions against them? I'm lost with what to do at this point.

many many people are being scammed many intelligent trusting people .
Not everyone knows about these puppy
scams if they did there would be no more scammers.
Let up Yolanda , it took a lot of guts to get on the internet and tell the world you make an mistake. Amy did this to HELP others so it wouldn't happen to them.
How did you find oout about puppy scams?????

i am african american and i think what you are doing is sick and cruel. the only thing you are going to get out of it is trouble. i think you are wrong in what you are doing and this is not going to change what happend many many years ago. we just have to go on and be happy that we have a president that is going to do good for this world.

When I first answered some of these ads for cheap puppies, I got a bit suspicious, when I saw that they where coming from Cameroon. So I googled Cameroon and puppy, and OMG up came all these puppy scams, going back for years now.
As I was looking for a puppy for my daughter who is sick, I did not want to waste all my money on a puppy that would not come.
I emailed them back, and said, that I could not afford to pay for a puppy if it was a scam, as I was a single parent, with a sick child. They assurred me I would get my puppy, and my child would have her playmate.
I then suggested instead of using Western Union or Money gram as they suggested, using a escrow service. They would 100% get their money when I got my puppy and I agreed to pay the escrow service.

Guess what, I never heard back from them.

I am glad I took a minute to educate myself!

We have been scammed too now. I wish I would have read this before we sent $200 dollars for a Yorki. To Cameroon of course. Same thing happend to us, we paid for the puppy and then shortly after they responded about the inurance scam. We went to Western Union and asked their oppinion. Of course we were stupid to even think this was good. Then of course the guy we were buying from at, tried to swear on his life that he wasn't a scam artist. They tried sending us the dog thru France, and when I called them on it, they said we could get a direct flight into Phoenix. Ya right, we went there and of course no dog. Now he's tried to say we needed an electric crate too. I'm done with this idiot Dont be fulled either. Bo

yes I too was almost scammed! this was for a parrot on kijiji .In one hour i received numerous emails and a phone-call that the bird was already at the airport and send money! Report it to the B.B.B. I alerted it to kijiji and to the scammer that the jig was up-his reply was ---- you! and I messed with the wrong person -and he was a hacker!
So as the old saying goes-if its too good to be true-it probably is-buyer beware!

Never never buy a dog or animal over the internet. Never buy one unless you can SEE the place and the parents.

[hey i was scammed by the same thing i was also trying to get some yorkies and they told me i had to send $150 to the airport for the traveling crate then as soon as i sent that they sent the itineray saming what flight they were going to be on as soon as i got that they was soppose to be sent fron camooron to france then fron france to atlanta and fron atlanta to bama. Then i get a email from the france airpirt saying the puppies need insurance and i would have to pay $550 to get them to send them to the states. The man also said try to come up with as much monet as you can and what you don't send i can come up with the rest.I felt really stupid because i had to drive an hour and a half to go to the airport jst to hear that their wasn't any puppies and i didn't the email fronm the france airport until later on that night
