How to Get Rid of a Dog's Cold

A pet dog infected with cold viruses exhibit runny nose, runny eyes, coughing and sneezing along with other respiratory symptoms.

I've never heard of a dog having a cold. Recently I've heard about canine autism through vaccination. Pets are getting human conditions from eating garbage food, and it seems they are suffering from vaccinosis just like our children. Pharma wants only one thing, $$$ and they will tell you to inject the earthworms in your garden if they could convince you to.

I have a pug and when I got him he had a cold...It is crazy that when I took him to the vet he was treated with the same thing as they would give to a human child that has a common cold..I was told to go to store and get childs cough med... and benadryl for the runny nose and such.. He was given amoxicillin as well..So my thought is.. I payed all that money to a vet and in the end all I had to do was the basic things I would have done for my childeren if and when they had a common cold... Just something to think about huh..? Maybe these word will help someone eles who has a puppy and they get a cold, instead of paying a vet to tell them to go to store and get cold med for a child.. It did work and helped alot with his cold!!!

What you gave him won't help any more than it helps a human. All that cold medicine has been tested and shown to be bogus.

Dogs don't get colds. As far as humans are concerned though, cold medicines don't cure colds but they do help somewhat to alleviate the symptoms. The key word here is "somewhat."

This is the dumbest thing I've read on here in awhile. Don't think just because your dog exhibits human symptoms you can go to the local pharmacy and buy whatever over the counter medicine for humans and it will work on your dog. You need to consult your veterinarian FIRST before you end up poisoning or killing your dog.

This is not true,we have always used a home remedy.In a sauce pan mix a 1/5 of vodka,3 fresh squeezed lemons and a pint of fresh honey and let him drink until he is content.He may be a little drunk acting,but afterwards he will be fine.

Wow! My mother used to mix and warm up honey, lemon and either brandy or whiskey (not sure which one) in a saucepan when we were sick. Those were the good old days.

Just steam up the bathroom, keep them in there for a bit. Feed them chicken broth and take care of them. And don't let them around other pets, dog's cold is very contagious. Simple.

Dogs do get colds. A few yrs ago my dog had a sinus infection and the vet bill was $75 for the exam and antibiotics.

Bottom line is 99% of the vets have no clue or ambition to help anyone. They just trying to take your money and give you nothing in return. I have been to many vets and always leave feeling like I just got ripped off. They always say lets wait two weeks and see if it passes. Uf not bring them back and we will do 20 pricedures that only cost $1800. Ya go to hell and thanks for nothing. If my dog suffers because you cant do your job then we going to have unimaginable problems. These idiots get degree online for $200 then think they a real dr.

A cold is not the same as an infection...common sense people! One is a virus and one is a bacteria. Dogs don't get the same viruses as humans and their bodies can't metabolize medicine the same way. For dogs Human medicines can cause liver damage, heart problems, ulcers, etc. If you wanna risk it to save a few bucks you shouldn't have pets. If your dog is being treated with amoxicillin or for an infection there is nothing over the counter that will help and could possibly kill your dog. Some might help with symptoms like Benadryl for allergies, but even then ask your vet first for dosing instructions. Don't be a tool just because it's an animal.

You're really jaded and should not have pets. There are great, caring vets out there but you can't see beyond the dollar signs. Do the world a favor and save yourself the aggravation...don't get any more pets.

Everyone wants to help their sick pet but if you have tryed for a week and seems no better go to the vet. Its only like yourself you stay sick for a week then begin to think perhaps I need more than over the counter stuff and you go to the doctor,so take you sick pet to the vet. If you love your pet you will do all you can,there is PDSA if you have no money or you should have your pet insured. If this is not right you should not have a pet,they are part of your family .love them like they love you !
