I am 66, my wife is 65. We plan to continue working for at least another year. I would like to start collecting social security - but not sign up for medicare. Is that possible? I went to social security and they told me I cannot sign up for social security unless I sign up for medicare. They also said I cannot sign up for medicare because I am covered by my spouses HSA insurance plan. I read that since it is my spouse's plan and wages that are paying for the HSA it should not affect me. I have received different answers from social security. Anyone know the real deal - can I sign up for social security, and not sign up for medicare?? Thanks.
