union pensions were stolen from tax payers under the threat of strike or walkout.
The only people at the contract bargaining table were the union thugs and corrupt city officials.'
Tax payers were not at the table and did not have a voice in the process and should not be stuck with the bill for union retirements.
Union thugs make DEMANDS then enforce those demands with the threat of a strike if those demands were not met.
City officials just cave in to the union thugs because city officials don't want essential services disrupted by a union strike or illegal walkout so they just give the unions what the DEMAND to keep labor peace.
Besides city officials know they will be out of office when the union retirement bills come due so what do they care what they give away when other peoples monies are at stake.
The last sick part of this union theft mess is the union voting block voting in lock step for democrats in return for better goodies at contract time.
So unions vote for democrats in return for more and better jobs and big payouts. Democrat morons keep jobs in government and steal from tax payers and unions get better and more goodies from the morons they help elect to public office.
What people miss in this is the fact that absolute power corrupts absolutely which is why so many Detroit mayors are or have been in prison cause they thought they were above the law untouchable.
I hope the unions lose every penny of retirement promised they stole from citizens and they have to live on social security like the rest of America does.
Beside most of the time the union thugs never contributed a penny to the retirement fund.
They just take.
on another subject the greedy Union thugs and obozo cheated and stole from money from GM
stock & bond investors in the GM bankruptcy proceedings. Now it should be unions retirements that are thrown under the bus and run down and over by bankruptcy proceedings.
There ain't enough bread fred to keep this bloated Detroit mismanaged fiscal mess afloat and even union moron thugs should be able to see this FACT.
Detroit voted for democrats and unions keeping them in power for too many years and finally Detroit has what it voted for, a broken down dysfunctional, bankrupt burned out hulk of a city.
How's that years of voting for democrats and union thugs working for ya Detroit???

..... The unions are doing what they are supposed to do, representing their menbers and fighting for maximum possible benefits for them.
..... The politicians are ensuring that there is labor peace, no strikes, continued services to residents. BUT AT A PRICE!
..... But the politicians apparently dare not raise taxes enough, if at all, because they want to be re-elected next time. It's a conflict of interests.
