Actually, they will be COMPLETELY DESTROYED.

The bridges will crumble.

The cities will be in flames.

Mothers will be eating their children.

And the men will STILL have to sign up for OBAMACARE.

:(

All because of Marriage Equality......

ANOTHER court of law that's going to allow the bigots to prove on the record that THEY HAVE NO ARGUMENT against marriage equality. None, zip, zilch, nada, none at all!

I wonder if the bigots will be smart enough to drop their appeal before they have to testify...

It's kind of amazing that the opinion of the American people has done a 180 in 20 years. Twenty years ago, ALL the courts were ruling against us, and many considered it laughable and ridiculous the very notion of marriage equality.

I think that the main thrust of our next court actions and legal arguments is not to get more states on board, but to get the federal courts to rule that all states MUST legally recognize ALL the marriages performed out of state, their own laws and constitutional amendments to the contrary notwithstanding, for the same reason. There is no valid argument against marriage equality.

Continuing the legal battle on a state-by-state basis for the next 36 states is an exercise in the law of diminishing returns, particularly on the amount of dollars spent to do so.

Actually, I would disagree there. History has shown that the more cases we get that come down on our side, the more cases we'll get that come down on our side.

In other words, it'll get more and more easy to win cases because of the cases we've already won.

Sooner or later, the SCOTUS is going to have to weigh in and force the rest of the ignorant bigot states to accept marriage equality. They'll be dragged in kicking and screaming and crying just like they did over race issues.

And then nothing will happen. No earthquakes. No imaginary god-induced wrath. Straight couples won't divorce any faster than they already divorce. No flood of millions of gay people flocking to their states to get gay married. Their neighbors won't all suddenly "turn gay" and start having orgies in their yards. Nothing will change. They'll be free to continue hating and worrying and being afraid of everything that's not exactly as they want it to be. And nothing horrible will befall them.

And it will infuriate them.

Christie lost big time in the courts. Not only did he not get a stay pending a review by the state's Supreme Court, The court summarily ruled against him on the issues.

"The state has advanced a number of arguments, but none of them overcome this reality: Same-sex couples who cannot marry are not treated equally under the law today," the court said in an opinion by Chief Justice Stuart Rabner. "The harm to them is real, not abstract or speculative."

I hope the usual suspects (Pietro, Wondering, BrianG, etal) read that.
