mobile malware is widely exaggerated. i own a rooted android phone since 2010, and instead of using 'google-approved' apps from its apps store i often resort to bootlegged ones provided by russian sites - so technically i'm doomed _IF_ all those malware fear-mongering stories are true. while that's not something to be bragged about, no serious threat's in sight so far. i dun use antivirus. only a combination of ad-blocking app and firewall.

btw russian sites providing (most if not all bootlegged) mobile apps can be a good indicator, although not so scientific, of which mobile platform is popular with the masses (read: pirates). here's the rank according to them:
3. java (including feature fones)
5. windows mobile
6. insignificant others liek palm and webos, motorola's ezx (iianm, it's the first linux on mobile) and kjava, harmattan, familiar (old, not the one based o android)
yup, there are no windows phone and blackberry and bada and tizen and firefox and ubutnut :p
