The GOP's worst 'cliff' myth

There are 204 comments on the The Washington Post story from Dec 24, 2012, titled The GOP's worst 'cliff' myth. In it, The Washington Post reports that:

Perhaps the oddest of the conservative rationalizations for refusing any kind of budget compromise is the insistence that budget deals are pointless - and maybe even counterproductive - because Democrats rig them such that the taxes are real and spending cuts are illusory.

Of course they think this - it's self-serving projection of their own chicanery and dishonesty.

Does anyone not understand that REpublicans blame their own incompetence and intransigence on Democrats?

Only Faux News watchers and far-right media obssessives believe that, surely.

Telling the truth about Republican racial attitudes is not "playing the race card," nor does mentioning race make you a "racist."

At least, not unless you're a Republican obsessed with hatred of Democrats.

Only a paranoid lunatic would believe that the long-deceased "Cloward-Piven strategy" has ANYTHING to do with the fiscal cliff, not to mention Benghazi.

Neither of those will get Mr. Obama impeached, so you're simply blowing hot air, as usual.

Republicans will be the reason we go over the overrated and so-called "fiscal cliff," if anyone. They want the U.S. to fail.

The fiscal cliff is all about having to cut and then end Medicare and SS as we know it. If they don't means test Medicare more NOW, in 5 more years just SS and Medicare would be using up 97 percent of the federal budget. Those are our number one and number two biggest spending items. And, when the 80 million baby boomers go onto SS and Medicare, it would cost about $4-5 trillion a year to pay out SS and Medicare, plus how many of them go into rest homes on the government, on Medicaid? They say the majority of Medicaid expenses is for old people, mainly for free rest homes. Old people are in the 47 percent who don't pay income taxes and who are on government health care and government monies, so where in the hell are we going to get that kind of money from? The unfunded liabilities in SS and Medicare are $121 trillion. That's the amount that the government promised to the baby boomers beyond what they have paid into the programs - hence, UNFUNDED, and liabilities, promises made that are not paid for with taxes. So if they live for 30 years after they retire, you need $121 trillion over 30 years to pay them SS and Medicare, so you would need $4 trillion per year to pay out SS and Medicare.

As far as good paying jobs, we just lost out on 5 million good paying jobs we were offered in computer science and in engineering and people don't want to go to college, so there is nothing anyone can do about that.

And, the majority of Mexicans and blacks drop out of high school and have kids out of wedlock and go onto welfare. There is not going to be anyone working to pay them welfare, and they are not going to be paying for SS and Medicare, nor paying any income taxes. So soon there won't be anymore welfare. The Mexicans are bankrupting welfare, collapsing it cause they are a much larger percentage of the population than the blacks are. In other words, it took 120 million working people to give 80 percent of the black community welfare, and they are only about 15 percent of the population. You can't also add 30 percent more of the population to the welfare roles, the Mexicans, and expect that there's anywhere near enough working people to pay for it.

The 80 million baby boomers want money and health care from the government and so does 80 percent of Hispanics and blacks, so there's no one to pay for it. It's changing demographics. We will end up Libertarian by default, by the states going bankrupt and the country defaulting on it's debt and from the old age entitlements going bankrupt.

I don't know which is ugliest of the three:

Your ignorance of exactly what the 'fiscal cliff' IS,

Your ignorance of Medicare and Social Security, or

Your blatant, ugly racism against African-Americans and Hispanics.

Wonder how that last one's going to affect your Republican/Libertarian election hopes in the years to come? Maybe you should look at 2012 for a clue there, sweetie.

Bleah. What disgusting nonsense.

What a mean, little dead beat you are.

SS and Medicare have $121 TRILLION of unfunded liabilities. It is on the national debt clock. Look it up. You need $121 trillion to pay out in the next 20 years to the baby boomers in SS and Medicare, so you need about $6 trillion a year in new taxes to pay them SS and Medicare. Where are you going to get the money from??

Medicare spending is up over 19,700 PERCENT since the 1970s. I saw the stats on CNBC the other day. Where do you plan on getting $121 trillion in new taxes from to pay out Medicare?

80 percent of black women have kids out of wedlock. That is a fact.

Over 50 percent of Hispanic women are now having kids out of wedlock and going onto welfare. That is a fact.

Where's the racism idiot mean troll from hell?

Are YOU going to pay most of them to be on welfare and in prison and pay for 140 million old people to all be on SS and Medicare at the same time? Are you paying for it bully troll from hell?

The Fiscal Cliff won't affect obamas worshipers...the poor will always get their free stuff, the govt workers, millions of them cannot lose their jobs, and the academia based workers are in an industry that has never needed to make a profit to survive, so they're ok.

Nope, it'll be mostly the hardworking honky republicans that will feel the pain, their taxes go up, obamacare goes up and unemployment will go up. But I think that was the plan all along.

Here's a bigger myth, raise taxes on the rich and they will create jobs.
Here's another one, raise taxes on everybody and the economy will grow.
Taxes were higher under both Clinton and Reagan and the
economy did very well.
Taxes were considerably lower under Bush and the economy
took a nose dive.

Taxes have been lower under Obama and the economy struggles.

Figure it out.

How was 9/11 Bush's fault when clinton let al queda run wild....7 attacks on US interests and nothing done, terroists trained HERE while clinton was President, idiot.

Bush captured the terroists who revealed the courier, who revealed the doctor who gave the whereabouts of bin laden's compound...Bush did get bin laden, meathead.

Unemployment dropped sharpley........what the hell have you been smoking??

The recession you say..........extremely left-wing Los Angeles Times explains in 1999 that the CRA was passed to force banks to make risky loans.

Under Clinton, bank regulators have breathed the first real life into enforcement of the Community Reinvestment Act, a 20-year-old statute meant to combat “redlining” by requiring banks to serve their low-income communities.
New York Times in 2003, George W. Bush tried to stop the Democrats from ruining the economy with these forced loans. He was blocked by Democrats like Barney Frank.

The democrats CAUSED the recession and their gullible base bought it,...now in four years under nobama with two of those years a full dem congress.......massive more failures, shovel ready, cash for clunkers, green energy plant bankruptcies funded by the taxpayers....

Noblumber extended the Patriot Act twice....must've thought it's a good idea since it has caputured hundreds of potential terroists including

The Supreme Court of the United States says Obamacare a tax: So you really don't get it, as usual. What are you a professor of:: Bullshit?
A 156% increase in the federal excise tax on tobacco
Obamacare Individual Mandate Excise Tax
Obamacare Employer Mandate Tax
Obamacare Surtax on Investment Income
Obamacare Excise Tax on Comprehensive Health Insurance Plans
Obamacare Hike in Medicare Payroll Tax
Obamacare Tax on Medical Device Manufacturers
Obamacare Tax on Indoor Tanning Services
Obamacare Blue Cross/Blue Shield Tax Hike
Obamacare Excise Tax on Charitable Hospitals
Obamacare Tax on Innovator Drug Companies
Obamacare Tax on Health Insurers
your hospital stay will be taxed—what will that do to the cost of health care?

“The chief justice of the United States Supreme Court, John Roberts, said [about Obamacare],‘It is not our job to protect the people from the consequences of their political choices.’ Not our job…. So Obamacare is nothing more than the largest tax increase in the history of the world…. We have the biggest tax increase in the history of the world right in the middle of one of this country’s worst recessions.

Anything else....genius?

Consumer demand.

But there isn't sufficient consumer demand if
consumers don't have the income to create it.
And they no longer have the income to create it
because too much of the nation's wealth is in
the hands of too few people at the top of the heap
and there is no trickle down.

Instead of spending or investing in the American economy,
they do as Romney has done; they offshore it in third
world banks where there are no rules and they pay no taxes.
Or they invest in China. Or India. Anywhere but America.

The shrinking American middle class, once the envy
of the whole world, no longer has the liquidity to
rescue the stagnant economy thanks to Reagan's and Bush's
whopping tax breaks for the already very wealthy.

It's like 10 people sharing a pizza. You give two people
two thirds of it and let the other eight fight over
the remaining one third. Slim pickings.

That's the present state of the American economy.
