A lot of adult children can relate to this story, they are faced with the financial burden of paying for parent's long term care services. For some, they tend to leave their jobs to personally care for parents because they don't have the resources or funds to pay for the cost of ltc facilities. Overall, millions of dollars in income are lost when family members quit their jobs to care for aging parents.

In a similar article at aaltci.org and infolongtermcare.org , it is necessary to discuss ltc with parents/family, you may need enormous efforts get your parents to talk about it but it will be worth it. As they age, the chances that they may need it increases, and being a child who might be responsible for their care in case they do not have the resources, you need to know if they have plans or if they have funding sources should the need to be on long term care arises. In the end, you will be relieved if lay out their cards on you so you can assist them in planning for future care needs.

That's wonderful that they're making a system for those who are in need. We're torn between caring for my grandfather personally, or submitting him to a long term care facility. I love him, but I know he always likes a new adventure. http://stjosephsministries.org/services/longT...

I feel like there are a lot of in home care companies that are popping up around the nation. I think it is to help older people realize that they don't have to go to a facility to live, but can also live in the confines of their home and get help. Hopefully this will let people feel more comfortable about receiving help from nurses when they get older.
