That's their stated goals. Much like mom, apple pie, and the girl I left behind. EVERYBODY believes that stuff. It's the unstated goals they harbor of anarchy, racism, bigotry, a return to 1783 mentality and a free lunch for the TEA Party members. Instead of dropping off the grid like so many millions of others that want what they state, they seek to impose their childish views on others. Does that help answer your question of who are they from an independent verifiable viewpoint?

You give the Tea Party so much free publicity.[no such thing as 'bad' publicity]
Many know that T.E.A. stands for Taxed Enough Already. That's about all I knew about them.
You ranting about them so much caused me to look into this 'bad a*s' party.
"The Tea Party Movement is a grassroots movement of millions of like-‐minded Americans from all backgrounds. Tea Party members share similar core principles supporting the United States Constitution as the Founders intended, such as:
■Limited Federal Government
■Individual freedoms
■Personal responsibility
■Free markets
■Returning political power to the states and the people

Seems un-American to be so nasty to a group that seems to want to make the country better.
Thanks for all the publicity, Patticakes!!

If the Federal Government shutdown continues through the month of October, then states, both blue and red, should seriously consider the unthinkable---secession.

That issue tried and failed with the death of over 600,000 lives and millions wounded.

If a company can't pay it's bills, shouldn't it shut down ?
If our governmaent would pay it's bills and make cuts that it can't afford, we wouldn't be in this situation. People say we need all these programs. Maybe so; If we can't afford them, you can't have them.
Can't have ice cream with your cake, because you can't afford it, matter of fact you could probably do without the cake too. We need to learn to be alittle less dependent on the government for our personal needs.

There is indeed a big part of the problem. I would suggest that most people on both the right and the left would dramatically cut spending if allowed to pick which programs should be cut. For example, you suggest people should not rely on the government to help with life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, because as you say, they should not be dependent for personal needs. I on the other hand see no need to spend 17 times more on the military than the rest of the world combined. I don't know why I am taxed to pay for military bases in countries where we have no business being. From my point of view, you are asking people not to eat so you can have more guns than anyone else in the world. In the past this debate has been referred to as guns or butter.

The big problem from my perspective is we have lobbyists from corporations making guns (and other weapons) who donate to make sure their "candidate" wins, then they hire lobbyists to write the laws. They own the media and design it to scare the populace into thinking guns are more important that butter. They walk away with billions of our dollars and you then suggest people should not be allowed to eat cake.

I didn't suggest pepole should not be allowed to eat cake. Learn to read and understand. While your at it, teach Pelosi too. If you can't afford it don't buy it. My tax dollars shouldn't be spent on people spending money on something they don't need. Cake was just an example like your guns and that butter.

That was over 150 years ago over various issues, but a non-functioning Federal Government was NOT one of them.

Your cake comments are much like Marie Antoinette in instigation of the French revolution, "Let them eat cake." It shows the same callousness to the needs of others.

As to Pelosi, for her refusal to even allow minor investigations into the rampant criminality of the bush administration, she should be considered complicit in his crimes and should go to prison along with bush.

So if you didn't mean they shouldn't be allowed, then do you oppose the robber barons and their stealing everything? Do you oppose those who help set up the system where the fruit of all labor goes to a few families, and everyone else is moving to abject poverty? When in poverty, how do you get cake?

So are you serious about solving the debt problem, or just parroting the republican talking points with no serious attempt at solving the problem, instead using it to do damage to others so you can feel better about yourself?

Eventually we'll reach the point where the United States government will no longer be extended a line of credit to fund our yearly $1,000 Billion budget deficits.

Then who will have the last laugh: the Right, the Left, Social Security Recipients, China ...?

It will be dooms day for everyone involved.

Yea! The park is open again. Yea! Yea!

Let's go visit the Lincoln memorial and tell him the good news:

Its was/is never about betting against a black. Believe me, I knew enough that gambled much of their weekly salaries quite often therefore betting against themselves. Of course this was my experience and not what others have had. Its about trusting a person. Not betting on him. How about a tax cut and/or tax rebate. Come on. Be for the people like you always promote. Can't do that. Special interests come first. So people will join the special interests.

dope, default would have immediately raised the actual debt. Our was mostly caused by putting 2 wars on the credit card while giving tax cuts to the rich. Debt was also increased by the economic impact of the teabaggers shutdown and the job losses and reduction in economic activity caused by the sequester cuts. At this point we need economic activity and a targeted plan to deal with debt in the long-term - not stupid slogans, extreme cuts and brinkmanship.

That is correct.

The actual SIZE of the debt needs to be addressed in a RESPONSIBLE manner.

We need to stop POINTING fingers at each party.

We need to point the finger at CONGRESS and say, let's get our FINANCIAL HOUSE IN ORDER!!

too true.. Now we will see if the republican party and the House Speaker has learned anything from this debacle. If not then we will have a repeat of this insanity.
