Obama’s support came from the 47 percent of American voters ‘‘who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it.’’

Since the above is SUPPOSEDLY UNTRUE, then NO ONE will mind when when the gravy train dries up due to spending cuts.

Sadly, roboblogger, you are correct. The growing deficit is even scarier when you look at Medicaid. Medicaid expansion will cost billions and billions of dollars with Obama failing to state from where the money will come. These billions of dollars will put a Medicaid card in people's hands, but will not promise them that a health care provider will accept Medicaid. If doctors' reimbursements aren't raised (more than just to the Medicare rate that is constantly slashed), Medicaid recipients will not receive quality health care.

in his inaugural address, the prez tries to downplay the issue of 30 million new seniors in the next 20 years. we are not gonna be mean to old or young, he seems to say. he AVOIDS tough choices that HAVE to me made.

"Of course, there are conflicts between the young and old. In 2000, there were 45 million Social Security recipients; by 2025, the Social Security Administration projects the number at 79 million. Already, paying for retirees is the largest source of federal spending. In 2012, Social Security ($762 billion) exceeded defense ($651 billion) by 17 percent; Medicare and Medicaid together ($720 billion) also topped defense.(Two-thirds of Medicaid goes to the elderly and disabled.)

Excluding these programs from even modest budget cuts -- as Obama seems inclined to do -- imposes huge costs on the young. Their taxes will rise, big deficits will persist or spending cuts will be concentrated on other programs more important to the working population (for starters, grants to state and local governments). There's no honest way around these conflicts, but Obama pretended they don't exist."
