I can not understand why the UAW would make such a decision until it was brought up at the constitutional convention that is coming up. Why not ask the delegates for their input? I know most active and retirees would be willing to give one or two dollars more a month to keep Black Lake.
First of all UAW needs every nickle quarter and dime it can get. They took over Ford,GM and Chrysler's retirement and retired medical as of Jan. 1st of 2010. yes the big 3 kicked in their payment but with UAW members down, more expenses, and worker relations with the UAW suck(between UAW and the worker) they should sell it. When Chrysler closed the plants in ST Louis UAW didn't stop them, when GM closed the Ohio plant about hour from my house UAW didn't stop them. So my question is why have the union if they truely protect the workers before the plant closes.

First of all I truely do work for Honda. Second of all we are a non-union company. I don't see us becoming a Union car company what does that have to do with them selling Black Lake. the facts are the fact. Union members are down, Bills have to be paid. UAW gotta get rid of assest. The facts are the facts.besides if most of the UAW members doesn't use it is it really worth having? it's like if a richer person gets "laid off" from his/her job with 2 homes. Yeah they'd like to keep the 2nd home but it's not a "must have" like Heat, water, clothing, and food. So you sell the "extras" to get buy till you find a new job. a lot of people are doing that in this economy. anything they got of value that isn't a "must have" they sell.
I think I would like you so much, you sound like my type of guy and lord knows I have been looking for Mr right. Why don't we meet up and go out to my cabin for a little R and R. Nice bottle crown, slow fire burning, some good stakes on the barbie. If you don't mind I would ask The Truth 1 if he could make it again. We had so much fun the last trip.

Tea Parties...
The union cannot generate sales. Hense cannot save plants that build unneeded cars. So they negotiated buyouts and redeployments from the company. IMO quite lucrative ones.
These are post bankrupt companies with no money.
What more do you think is in their power to do?

It's not that the Unions lie. The Unions promise Oh if your plant you work in ever closes we'll stop them. Look at Wisconsin GM plant, One of the oldest plants GM operated. the GM plant about hour from my house. matter of fact i applied there before I went to Honda. I have no hard feelings for GM,Ford or Chrysler. If UAW gonna go to bat for "joe worker" out on the floor then go to bat. but I knew some guys down at the GM plant south of Dayton(Moraine plant) been there 25-30 years. Forced into retirement. They paid Union dues all that time.
I'm all for Unions (HERE'S THE CATCH)IF THEY WORK FOR THE MAN/WOMAN PAYING IN. but i think Goldfinger and his crew of crooks could care less if "joe worker" has a job next week or not.
I'd honestly think about a union if it wasn't UAW.
In advance: I'm sorry If it offends any UAW guys but the truth the truth.

FYI....true most UAW members paid their green fees, but there was also many a voucher that came out of Solidarity House that provided the bearer a free round of golf...and there is a select group (that receives special treatment) that runs around the course like they owned the place, not the Union...I thought all members were created equal, and to be treated as such
Chryusler guy wrote:
When a uaw member goes to Black lake they pay for their own golf, not the uaw. UAW members get a discount and that's it. Black Lake is great. I wish everyone could go. If you saw it you would understand why it is so expensive to keep up. I went one time and am happy for that.

The UAW Center is for any UAW member to use. We had swimming lessons there as a kid because my dad was a member. He wasn't a cronie either! Just a hard-working Skilled Tradesman!

Yes, it's real. I was there 3 decades ago and I saw how much Union Officials were like the bosses I worked for. They have a chef preparing great, buffet style food. Most of the officials teaching there all weighed over 350 (uncommon weight then). It was like getting an extra 6 weeks vacation a year for them. They taught one,1 hour class a day.
